IMPORTANT NOTICE - The Last Day of School will be a half-day for students!
From Mr. Anderson's Desk
This is an exciting time with the last two weeks of school upon us! One of our major events this week is the Relay for Life! Our students will spend the day learning about healthy choices, having fun, and learning how they can make a difference by raising money for the Cancer Society! One way we are doing this to have fun is by a "Kiss the sheep" contest where the faculty member with the most money in the jar has to kiss a sheep! Last week Mrs. Machuga walked the halls introducing the baby sheep to the whole school!
Please continue to keep a share eye on your student's book bag as it comes home everyday to be prepared for the specifics on our upcoming events!
"Every child deserves a champion – an adult who will never give up on them, who understands the power of connection and insists that they become the best that they can possibly be." -Rita Pierson

Social Media Support
Social media can be accessed on any device that connects to the internet or cell phone data plans. Some of the most popular social media outlets include Facebook, Instagram, and snap chat. Although all social media platforms require children to be at least 13 years old to have an account, many students have accounts.
To support you in talking with your child about social media safety, http://www.connectsafely.org/guides-3/ offers parent guides for many of the popular social media apps. These guides give you a quick description of the app, what students like about the app, and then offers you suggestions for how to ensure your child is safe when using the app.
One great resource to use when speaking with your child that uses social media is to refer to one of our school wide posters “THINK.” We encourage students to THINK before speaking in school. This can also be used when to THINK before they post on social media (see graphic above).
After School Program Wraps Up for the Year!
The After School Program finished on a high note with a field trip to Mossy Bank in Bath, NY on May 31st. The students enjoyed a nature walk and the beautiful views the park has to offer. The afternoon ended with a group picnic and time on the playground.
The After School program offered Academic assistance throughout the year and the opportunity to be involved in enrichment activities such as tennis, library club, choir, origami, yoga, fitness, arts and crafts, community service, and strategy games (among others). The group also took part in planting the flowers at the main entrance of the school. Special thanks to the students and staff for a successful first year!
