Heart disease is the number one cause of death for men and women over the age of 55 in America. The main components of heart disease are unmanaged stress, the lack of the right type of physical activity and not having right nutrition.
Why heart disease is the number one cause of adult death in America:
This disease is the number one cause for adult americans death because about 1/2 of americans have at least one of these main risk factors: high blood pressure, high cholesterol, smoking, diabetes, physical inactivity, and obesity.
How specifically a person can take responsibility for their health:
They can eliminate the possibilities of being a statistic by exercising daily, eating nutritiously, knowing how to manage stress, and taking care of your health in general. All of these ways will make them feel better about themselves, which in the end is the most important.
At what age do risk behaviors begin staging future heart disease?
There is no specific age, but mainly childhood because it being the start of your life. This shows that when you are born is when you should start to introduce, exercising as a positive along with eating healthy.
Exercises to help prevent heart disease:
Specific exercises being cardio machines, running, swimming, hiking, skiing, are all examples of aerobic exercises. They also recommend that you exercise each day or most days for 30 mins. In deed, all these exercises can help prevent heart disease.
What specific foods, snacks, beverages are the "healthiest?"
Some of the healthiest foods are natural fruits, greens (ex. broccoli), and whole grains. These are listed as some of the healthiest because of how nutritious they are for you. Each one of these foods, has a good influence on your body.
Foods to avoid:
Foods to avoid are fatty saturated foods, fast food. Specifically, mainly fast food hamburgers, fries, funnel cake, etc. In addition, these were chosen as some of the unhealthiest because of how they don't have positive impacts of your well being. Which then all leads to the problem of heart disease.
Foods to add:
On the other hand, to help prevent heart disease by healthy eating here are some suggestions. Try to choose foods that are low in saturated fat, sodium, and trans fat. For example, direct your daily eating habits more towards fiber-rich whole grains, fruits and vegetables, nuts. If possible, try to eat some meals with less meat and select lower fat dairy products and poultry.
Stress management techniques to consider:
Techniques that are recommended are deep breathing, and muscle relaxation. These stress management exercises help you to be more calm, and clear your head. The more times you do them the more relaxed and less stressed you feel. Along with all of this, this has a big impact on heart disease because stress has a big input. Which gives more reason to do these types of exercises.
