Bilingual Advisory Committee Meeting
Virtual Meeting
November 4th at 12:30 PM
Is a language other than English spoken in your household?
Does your child speak a second language?
Do you want to support families in our school who do?
If you answered yes to any of these questions we welcome you to join on November 4th for the first meeting of this year's Bilingual Advisory Committee. We plan to highlight the many languages LaSalle II families speak! This meeting will also provide more information to parents and guardians of English Learners. Find out about the different English Learner Programs and get answers to questions you may have about your child's involvement in these programs. A link to this meeting will be sent via email.
We will also talk about Día de los Muertos, which begins November 1st and ends on the 2nd. This holiday is a celebration of life and death. Check out this article about the Day of the Dead from National geographic for more information!

Learning About Shapes in PreK
In September the Pre-K students in room 101 read “Crazy Pizza Day”. One of the activities the students did was to make their own “shape pizza”. Students worked hard to cut out the shapes for their “toppings”. When they were finished, students identified the different shapes and counted how many of each shape they had on their pizza.
The Scientific Method in 6th Grade
The 6th grade class has been off to a wonderful start learning about the scientific method and the basis of science. We spent the past week learning about the steps of the scientific method. After studying each step with great detail! Students this week worked in groups creating a shape out of blocks, then wrote a detailed procedure of how they created their piece. Students then switched papers, and attempted to “test” another group's procedure to see how accurate the procedure was. Students had a blast critiquing the procedures and came up with great changes to ensure they had thorough procedures.
