Holiday Parties - Friday, Dec. 16th
Our PTO has planned a wonderful Holiday Party full of yummy treats and fun activities for your child. On this day, we will not have a gift exchange nor will students be permitted to bring extra snacks for the party. Please remember we are requiring everyone to check in through our V-Soft Parent Access System and bring a photo ID. Pre-registering in advance will help us to facilitate this process. Please pre-register using the form that was sent home and emailed previously. Once we receive your pre-registration form, a sticker will be sent home with your child. As a reminder, other school-aged children are NOT permitted to attend the parties. Please wear your sticker to Farney on the day of the party as this will help the registration process go quickly and smoothly. Party times are as follows:
Friday, December 16th
A.M. Pre-K and PPCD 10:00 – 10:45
P.M. Pre-K and PPCD 2:00 – 2:45
Kinder – 5th Grade 2:00 – 2:45
Winter break will be from December 19th - January 2nd. Students will return to school on January 3, 2017.

Character Education December Theme
Our Core Essential theme for December is Joy.
To have Joy, means finding a way to be happy, even when things don’t go our way. December is a month for spreading joy! How can you spread joy in your class, your school, your home or your work? Think of at least 3 things you could do to spread joy wherever you go. Your choice---Spread some joy!
Seeking Community Mentors
Farney Elementary is seeking community mentors to serve as positive role models for our students. Being a community mentor is extremely rewarding and only takes a commitment of 30 minutes a week to mentor/meet with one of our Farney students.
Mentors must attend a one-time district orientation before they can mentor at the school. Once you have completed your training and background check, we will work with you to match you with a student who would be the best fit for you.
More information can be found here: www.cfisd.net Community Involvement Mentor
Please contact Shannon Zepeda, Mentor Program Coordinator at 281 373-2850
Horizon Testing Referral period is now closed
Student Lunch Accounts
Student lunch accounts can be replenished with CHECK or CASH ONLY at school. Please make sure payments are labeled with the student's name and homeroom teacher. If you would like to add funds using a credit card please visit https://www.schoolcafe.com/initial.
The cafeteria is unable to accept credit cards for any purchases or account deposits.
WATCH D.O.G.S.
Our Watch Dog program consists of Dads or Father Figures of Great Students who volunteer one day at their child’s school. They will perform a variety of tasks including assisting with the car line in the morning, eating lunch with their child, monitoring the cafeteria and helping in their child’s classroom. We have sent out the link for dads to pick their date on the calendar. Please contact dhara.desai@cfisd.net if you are interested in participating and have not received the calendar link. We look forward to your participation and hope to see many dads at Farney Elementary!
