Oak Ridge High School's Weekly Update

From the Principal

Our first full week of school is now complete. While it is good to have students back in the building - there are challenges that stem from managing COVID 19 Illnesses, construction, and our normal back-to-school routines.

Bus and Car Riders

Thank you for your patience with traffic in the morning and afternoon. Traffic has always been a concern at ORHS, but it is exacerbated this year with construction and the movement of the bus ramp to the 9th Grade Campus. We anticipate the construction of the road around the campus to be completed before the end of this school year. In the meantime be patient with us and our new flows of traffic.

Postponement and Rescheduling of Events

In general, outdoor events will be carried on as normal. Large indoor non-essential events are currently postponed. For example, parent night is non-essential so we postponed the event to later in September. Whereas, school lunch is an essential event so it still happens. I am not happy about cancelling and postponing events but I also believe if we can reduce the risk to our students and staff it is my duty to do that.

Cleaning the Campus. Our campus is supplied with plentiful amounts of hand sanitizer, eMisting machines, and PPE. If your student wants to wear a mask they can. We also have masks if they forget one at home and request one. We will not mandate masks - however - we do support the individual choice that students make.

Covid Notification Emails. While we are not doing full scale contact tracing, we are notifying parents when a positive student or faculty member is on campus. Currently, we cannot list a number higher than five due to the programming of the application. Please review the COVID 19 Dashboard link below for live and up-to-date COVID 19 information across the district.

Thank You. Every single day you entrust us with the education and care of your children. On behalf of my staff thank you for the opportunity to serve in that role. We take pride in our job as educators at ORHS and we want to make sure you are satisfied with the work we are doing. While we will not be perfect - we strive to be better each and every day.
