Principal's Message

Tēnā koutou katoa – Warmest greetings to you all.

I hope everyone enjoyed the sunshine and their term break over the past couple of weeks!

Thank you to all families who have provided children with their named summer hat for Term 4.

We are looking forward to many activities this term including our art exhibition, PTA Treat, Puanga Big Day Out, Life Education, School Photos, Year 6 Graduation, End of Year Concert, Prizegiving, just to name a few of the wonderful experiences our children will be able to enjoy.

This term we welcome Kerry Vincent who will be working as a Learning Assistant in Room 5. We are very fortunate to be financially supported by the BOT to provide Learning Assistants in every classroom this term. We have the following LA's supporting our children in these rooms:

Room 2: Ms Adrienne Cooper

Room 3: Mrs Kerri Cleary

Room 4: Miss Nikita Wingate

Room 5: Mrs Jill Matthews / Mrs Kerry Vincent (Monday's)/ Mrs Shelley Whyte (Tuesday to Friday)

Room 6: Mrs Rebecca Paul

Room 7: Mrs Karen Brogden / Miss Nikita Wingate

Room 8 : Mrs Karen Brogden / Miss Nikita Wingate

These staff members are a huge help to our children and teachers. They often run specialised programmes for our children to boost their learning success and confidence. We really appreciate each and every one of them.

Thank you also to Mr Cameron Jones and Mrs Raewyn Shaw who over the school holidays did lots of work to ensure our school is looking in pristine condition for the new term.

Our TEAM is amazing and I appreciate every person for their wonderful input into our school community!

MUFTI DAY - Get Spotted Melanoma Awareness Week

Next week we have Mufti Day on Wednesday 21 October.

This is for Melanoma Awareness Week. Children can dress up in anything that is sunsmart (a bit like going to the beach!) They can wear brightly coloured spotted clothes, rash shirts, sun hats, sunglasses. Children to bring $2 for mufti Day. All proceeds to Melanoma New Zealand.

Get Spotted Melanoma Awareness Week

Help make a difference by raising awareness of melanoma in New Zealand.

Encourage your family and friends to take care of their skin in the sun and to check their skin regularly for any changes.

Melanoma New Zealand is the only charity organisation dedicated to preventing avoidable deaths and suffering from melanoma, by:

  • Providing information about all aspects of melanoma
  • Promoting regular skin checks for early detection
  • Advocating for increased access to high quality clinical care

If melanoma is recognised and treated early enough it is almost always curable.

UNDERSTAND MELANOMA: have you got questions about melanoma – what is it, how is it treated, what are the possible signs and what can we do to help prevent melanoma.

Check out the Melanoma website for more information.

Family Fun Day

As communicated at the end of last term, due to the uncertainty and effects from the COVID19 pandemic we have decided to adapt the Family Fun Day event previously planned. The children have made some amazing art master pieces and therefore, we will still be holding the Art Exhibition aspect. The Art Exhibition will be open on Thursday 29 October 1pm to 7pm and Friday 30 October 9am to 3pm in the Normanby School Hall. Lock in these dates and times please. This is a great event to bring along grandparents, aunties and uncles! The PTA will also have some great raffles for sale so bring along some money as well!
