Week of April 5, 2021 Newsletter
This week we welcome back many students to the school building!
Click here for the FPS Return to School Update from April 1st
This week we are transitioning from the hybrid model to full in-person return to the school building, 5 days a week, every week. Many families have elected to have their children continue with remote learning, so teachers will continue to provide concurrent instruction teaching students both in the building and through Google Meet. At times there may be some asynchronous, independent assignments as teachers focus on the needs of either the students in the building or the students learning remotely.
On Monday April 5th, please note that there will be asynchronous work for remote students for the first half of the day to allow for rituals and routines to be established for the students in the school building.
What is the new lunch schedule starting April 5th?
Our school's lunch schedule has been adjusted again to accommodate the additional students in our school building. Lunches begin earlier and end later than before to make sure that only one grade level is eating lunch in the cafeteria at a time. The COVID-19 regulations state that there must be 6 feet distance between students while eating.
Click here for the April lunch menus in English, Portuguese and Spanish.
The lunch/recess times for each grade level:
Kindergarten recess 10:30-11:00 & lunch 11:00-11:30
1st grade lunch 12:20- 12:50 & recess 11:55-12:20
2nd grade lunch 11:05- 11:35 & recess 11:35- 11:50
3rd grade lunch 11:45- 12:15 & recess 12:15- 12:30
4th grade lunch 1:30- 2:00 & recess 1:15 - 1:30
5th grade lunch 12:55 - 1:25 & recess 12:40 - 12:55

PAWS for Applause awards!!!
Congratulations to all of the students who received PAWS for Applause awards last week! On Wednesday March 31st, Wolfie helped to give out the awards to students and took photos with the students learning in person and learning remotely. All of the photos are featured on a special bulletin board in the hallway across from the cafeteria and will be updated at the end of each month when the next month's awards are distributed. Teachers selected two students from each classroom to receive the award as a recognition of their outstanding effort with demonstrating our school's core values of being safe, respectful, and responsible and for showing the IB Learner Profile attributes!
2nd grade scientists!
What characteristics of an object makes it sink or float? Second graders investigated this question and wrote lab reports to document their learning. They were inquirers and thinkers...and had lots of fun!
My MedBot app
MyMedBot (Attestation App)
MyMedBot is your ticket to school! MyMedBot is used to screen all FPS staff and students daily for potential COVID symptoms. Students, families, and staff must answer a series of COVID-19 related questions and based on the answers, the app will show a red screen, meaning you are not permitted to enter the school or a green screen, meaning you may enter the school. Please remember to complete MyMedBot everyday that your child is scheduled to attend school in-person.
COVID Call Center
Framingham Public Schools has launched a trilingual COVID Call Center to help families with the MyMedBot App questions. Families can reach the Call Center by email COVID@framingham.k12.ma.us or by calling (508) 782-6633. Call Center staff are available between 5:00am to 6:00pm Monday through Friday. Staff who have MyMedBot App questions should continue to reach out to the Help Desk.
COVID-19 Pooled testing for students
We encourage all of our students to participate in pooled testing! Free pooled testing will continue to be available weekly at school through the end of the school year for all students present for in-school learning. Although participation is voluntary, it is strongly encouraged. Our entire school community benefits when we can identify asymptomatic students with COVID-19 early and prevent the spread of the virus through the school community.
There are two options to complete the consent form:
Option 1 - NEW: Provide Consent for COVID-19 Pooled Testing online: Pool Testing Consent Form
Option 2: Complete the physical consent form (English, Spanish, Portuguese) and send it to our school nurse, Ms. Cowan, at school.
Have questions? CLICK HERE to learn more about Pooled Testing.
For additional information, please review the Framingham Public Schools COVID-19 Testing for Students Overview English, Spanish, Portuguese.
