WELCOME BACK!
We are excited for the 21 - 22 school year! Please read through the below back to school information. If you have questions after reading through all the information, you can contact the district office at 913-288-4100. For school specific questions, please call the school your child will be attending.
COVID-19 INFORMATION FOR 21 - 22 SCHOOL YEAR
TUSD 202's priority for the 21 - 22 school year is to keep our school buildings open and provide a safe in-person learning environment for our students and staff. For this to happen, we need the help of our community. Although masks are not required this year, we strongly recommend and encourage that parents send their students to school with masks on, especially those students who are not vaccinated. The most proactive way to prevent outbreaks is to put mitigation efforts in place, and in addition to those we will be taking in our buildings, it has been shown that mask wearing helps prevent the spread of infection. In addition to mask wearing, we also ask that parents do not send symptomatic students to school. In our buildings, we will be doing daily sanitization practices and social distancing when possible. We will have COVID-19 testing available for families as well.
If an outbreak jeopardizes our ability to safely operate schools, we will take action to ensure we can keep students in classrooms as much as possible which could include future restrictions. Your help in preventing these issues keeps children safe , keeps our schools open, and allows us to more forward “Full Steam Ahead.”
We appreciate your consideration of these COVID-19 mitigation efforts in order to help us provide a safe in-person learning environment.
FREE SCHOOL MEALS FOR ALL STUDENTS!
School breakfast and lunch will be free for all students during the 21 - 22 school year! This is being provided by a federal program through the USDA, which covers the cost of the meals for all students. There is no need for families to fill out an application. We encourage families to take advantage of the free school meals - every meal that is served helps Turner food service program financially and keeps local food service staff members employed. The free meals, which are safe, nutritious, and delicious, help extend family food budgets, too. For more information, contact Nikki Parrett, Food Services Coordinator, at 913-288-4141.
You can view school breakfast and lunch menus here.
PLEASE NOTE: a la carte items, such as those offered in the snack bars, are not included in the free meal program.
ONLINE REGISTRATION (OLR) DUE JULY 31ST!
Online Registration (OLR) for returning students is due July 31st! In order to enroll your child and to help us better prepare, please login to your Infinite Campus Parent Portal account to register for the upcoming school year. In the online registration application, you will review your child's current information and make any updates needed. Included in the registration this year is a Household Economic Survey. It will be important to complete this section for your school to receive state and federal benefits and funding. Future P-EBT distribution will be based on completion of this Household Economic Survey. Again this year, you will also mark whether your student(s) will ride the bus as we will only route students that indicate they are planning on riding.
After logging into the portal, please go to MORE on the left-hand launch menu, once a new screen appears click the Online Registration (OLR) link near the bottom of the screen to begin the process (see attached image for reference). Simply click the link and follow the instructions on each page. Online Registration (OLR) must be completed by July 31st. Students will not be issued a schedule, teacher, or mobile device until the OLR is complete. If you need assistance accessing your online Infinite Campus parent portal account, email ParentPortalHelp@turnerusd202.org.
