The Racer Review
August 6, 2022
Dear French Families,
Happy Back to School French Families,
Our first day of school is right around the corner! We look forward to seeing many of our families at Meet the Teacher on Monday evening. Our staff is excited to welcome EVERY Racer back to school! Please see their sweet smiles below. Be sure to attend on Monday evening to meet and greet them and all other staff members that might not be pictured. When coming to Meet the Teacher, be mindful that our parking is limited. Thank you again to Woodsedge Church for allowing use of their parking lot. Please make note of all the first days of school procedures. Being aware of all processes and procedures will make the days flow smoothly for your child. We are fueled up to get started - this is going to be an amazing year!
Sincerely,
Holly Conroy, Principal

Starting Monday, August 15, students will walk themselves to class. Parents will not be permitted in the building, unless needing to handle business in the office/clinic.
If your student will be dropped off after 8:10, parents will need to park and walk their students into the building. Parents will need to sign their child in.
Morning Arrival
Carpool Morning Arrival Procedures:
- When arriving at school drive as far up as possible in the front carpool lane.
- Stop at the first available cone, please have your child exit the car with all their belongings to keep the line moving.
- Parents must stay in their vehicle at all times while in the carpool lane.
- Students arriving in the carpool line will enter the building through the main doors or the doors by the bike racks depending on grade level.
- Grades PK - 2 will enter through the main doors and grades 3-5 will enter through the door by the bike racks.
Bus/Daycare Riders
- All bus and daycare riders are dropped off at the back of the school and enter through the cafeteria doors.
- Students riding Klein ISD transportation will begin using the SMART tag system to scan on and off the bus to creat more accurate rosters and increase safety measures.
- Once the SMART Tag has been issued to each student, it is very important to make sure it is on their backpacks each day.
- If your child loses their SMART tag, a fee will be issued on school cash for you to pay for the replacement.
Walkers/Bike Riders
- All walkers/bike riders will enter the building in the same manner as the carpool students. PK - 2nd will enter the building through the main doors and 3rd - 5th will enter the building through the doors by the bike rack.

WE WILL NOT HAVE LUNCH VISITORS THE FIRST 8 DAYS OF SCHOOL TO ALLOW THE STUDENTS TO BECOME FAMILIAR WITH LUNCH PROCEDURES AND ROUTINES. PLEASE STAY TUNED FOR THE LUNCH VISITOR SCHEDULE FOR 22-23. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION AS WE ALLOW OUR RACERS TO ADJUST TO THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR.
Dismissal/Transportation Procedures
We are a very large campus and work to get all students home very quickly. The end of the day can get hectic, so we ask for your help, cooperation, and understanding.
If your child will be going home a different way, please let the FRONT OFFICE know with a handwritten note. Telling the teacher is wonderful, but sometimes they can't check voicemail or email until it is after school. If you have an unexpected change in transportation we ask that you call the main front office. (832-375-8100).
We ask that you have the call made by 3:00 pm. If messages are not cleared or given in time, please know the teachers are trained to send kids home their regular way unless cleared by administration. We CANNOT take a child's word for it when it comes to leaving school safely.
Car Riders:
Please pick up a car rider tag from the front office during Meet the Teacher if your student will be a car rider this year. Your family will be assigned a car pool number this year to help facilitate the dismissal process. Please practice with your child to help them learn their number. The number will stay with your child during their time at French. This is a change from last year's procedures and we look forward to faster lines and a smoother process. This will take time to perfect - please understand the first few days may be a little slow.
Please have your carpool tag visible as you enter the front drive. (Children's pants hangers work well to display your carpool tag from your rearview mirror.) Please keep the tag visible until your child is in the car. The afternoon line runs like the morning line. Please pull up to the first open cone to meet your child. If for some reason, your child has not yet arrived to the cone, you will be instructed to pull up to a waiting area to allow the line to keep moving.
Bus Riders and Day Care Riders:
All busses and day cares are loaded in the back of the building. They are dismissed from the classroom and escorted and loaded with teacher supervision. Please note that once children are on the bus, they must follow the bus route to the designated drop off assigned by Klein Transportation.
Bus Information will be available soon at THIS LINK
Walkers/Bikers/Scooters:
These students will be escorted by our teachers to 2 different meeting locations depending on the path home. Students exiting the front of the building to walk down Rayford will be escorted to the school marquee to meet parents. PreK, Kinder, and 1st grade students must have an adult/designated older sibling present at pick up. Students exiting the back of the building to access the trail/sidewalk connecting the Auburn Lakes will be escorting the the backstop on the baseball field in the back of the school. Again, all PreK, Kinder, and 1st grade students must have an adult/designated older sibling present at pick up. We ask that all parents of these students wait at these areas for their students so they are not crowding the area close to the carpool line. This increases safety for all. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding. Students are encouraged to walk straight home. We encourage you to talk with your students about the safety and responsibility of walking to/from school.
Bus Buddies
What are Bus Buddies?
Bus Buddies is a partnership between volunteers and Klein ISD to provide assistance to elementary students to help them get off the bus at the correct location. The program requires one “Bus Buddy” per elementary bus the first three days of school (August 10-12, 2022). The approximate time commitment is from 2:45 – 5:00 p.m.
ALL KLEIN ISD BUSES ARE AIR-CONDITIONED!
