Rock Creek News
Keeping up with the Redhawks! January 22, 2022 Edition
Dear Rock Creek Families,
We hope you are having a wonderful weekend! We are grateful for a forecast of sunny skies so we can get back to playing outside on a consistent basis. That being said, although it is sunny, it is chilly! Please be sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
If you haven't yet, please take a few minutes to share your input and ensure that Rock Creek's voice is represented by filling out this brief LCAP Survey. You'll find more information below. The survey closes on Friday.
This week we celebrate participating in The Great Kindness Challenge across campus. Our Spirit Squad has planned a great week full of oppportunities for our students to engage in random acts of kindness and track them all week.
This Friday brings us our Family Dance, sponsored by PTC! Please remember that this is a family dance, which means a parent must be present with their Rock Creek student. Our PTC events are not drop-off events, and we look forward to having all of our families get together for a night of fun!
Best,
Bevin Graham, Principal

LCAP (Local Control Accountability Plan) Family Survey: Please Fill Out
What is Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP)?
The Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP) is an important component of the Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF), the State’s new way of funding school districts.
The LCAP utilizes a standardized template to describe how our district will address State and local priorities for all students and for specific student groups defined in Education Code. The Plan includes goals and associated measures to monitor progress as well as action steps and associated budget amounts for those actions.
The RUSD LCAP was developed with input from community and stakeholder groups including parents, teachers, support staff, administrators and bargaining unit groups. A special thank you goes to the District’s LCAP Parent Advisory Committee for volunteering valuable time to support excellence for all students in Rocklin.
Each year, ALL families have the opportunity to provide their input by filling out this brief survey. Please take some time to have your voice included and Rock Creek represented!

Food Scrap Recycling
A new California State Law requires Rocklin Unified Schools to recycle all food scraps. This means that our students eating on campus are learning to sort food scraps properly by throwing trash in our black bins and food scraps in our green bins.
We are beginning to sort our food scraps from garbage at the end of this month and beginning of next month. If you're intersted in our lesson video, you can find it linked here.
