ITRT Newsletter - Winter Edition

Get Centered by using Technology

This edition of the ITRT newsletter focuses on ways you can incorporate technology-rich stations in your daily lessons.

Why stations, you ask? Stations...

  • allow for small group communication and collaboration.
  • provide movement opportunities in your classroom.
  • help students develop independence.
  • increase active engagement.
  • provide opportunities for multi-sensory activities.
  • allow for differentiated instruction.
  • address varied learning styles, interests and needs.
  • promote self-discovery.
  • allow teachers to target specific academic skills.

Keep reading to learn about quick and easy ways to get stations going in your classroom by using technology and PD opportunities that will keep you in the know.

BrightLink PD sessions - Level 1 and Level 2

I am offering 2 sessions at each of my schools this month. Sessions will run from 3:00-4:00 unless there are teachers coming from other schools, and then we'll likely start at 3:15. I recently held these same sessions at PCES with teachers who've had their BrightLinks for several years. They were excited to learn some things that they did not know about the TeamBoard Draw software and Annotation features (Level 1) as well as the Easiteach software (Level 2). I have worked with grade levels and individual teachers to help them with their BrightLinks. Please consider coming to these PD sessions as you just might learn something new - not just from me, but from your colleagues! Be sure to register on the PD site and choose ongoing professional development and K-12 instead of ITRT delivered. The K-12 option gives you a specific date/time/location. Please let me know if you have any questions! I hope to see you at the training sessions! :)

Jennifer's ITRT schedule & technogy integration ideas

My February calendar is below. The sign-up calendars for the computer lab, Netbook and ThinkPad carts are on the shared drive. I sent a flyer out last week with Digital Writing ideas. Click here for the flyer. There are some great interactive sites that can be used with your entire class on your BrightLink or SMARTBoard, in small groups during centers, or individually using desktops, laptops, Netbooks, or ThinkPads. I have done several lessons with 4th grade students to help them become familiar with the Test Nav practice writing site. This month has a lot of possibilities for technology integration ranging from Valentine's Day, President's Day, and African American history. If you'd like to schedule a date/time for me to work with your class, or want to collaborate on a lesson or project then please email me!
