Create Healthy Holiday Meals
As you celebrate, think of little changes you can make to create healthier meals that your family will enjoy. Bake or broil turkey, roast beef, ham or fish as lean protein choices. Instead of salt, add lemon, rosemary, cilantro or other herbs for flavoring. Include beans or nuts to a green-leaf salad and consider offering fresh fruit for dessert. Enjoy leftovers by adding turkey and extra veggies to soups or salads. The possibilities are endless!

How I Got My Name Story Submission
Why Reveca ???
The story of my name starts on December 21st 1973, when my mother
was Christmas shopping for my siblings. When suddenly she felt her water
break. My father had to rush her out of the store to take her to the hospital.
She says she remembers having to leave all the toys and clothes in the cart
and having to leave the store because I was coming into the world. Once she
was at the hospital, my mother said I came out as fast as the way her water
broke. It was a quick labor, I weighed up to 10 lbs. Suddenly she had to
name me, therefore, she let my grandmother Lydia Corona name me. She
named me Reveca because it was a biblical name. The name of a woman
who was a kind, diligent, bold, wholehearted woman with a servant’s heart.
Rebecca had twins as well. Needless to say I turned out to be a kind,
diligent, bold, whole hearted woman with the servant's heart with twin
boys too! However my name was not spelled the way it was in the Bible my
name has 1 “v” and 1 “c” where as in the Bible it's spelled Rebecca. I was not
aware of that until I graduated my senior year 1993, when I saw the name
on my diploma. My whole life I was known and called Becky. It was the
nickname my mother gave me. However as you can see in my name there is
no “b” only a “v”. There was no way I was going to have people call me Vecky so
I continued with my nickname as Becky. I love my name, I think it's great
that it is spelled differently. I can relate to many of the characteristics
behind the meaning of my name, which makes my name even more special.
The tradition of naming the children in my family biblical names,
continued. I started to name my children biblical names as well. For some
reason biblical names have strong identity, attributes, and characteristics of
personality and character which I also see in my children’s biblical names.
I'm thankful that I feel very identified and know who I am behind the name
Reveca Rivera.
