Message From the Principal
By now, I'm sure you've heard about the principal search for Lake Tapps' next principal. The process will be thorough; staff, parents and community members will be able to give input.
Just to put all rumors or questions to rest, I have told Mr. Farmer that I won't be applying for the job. I love this school, your kids and this staff. However, I'm not sure I want to commit to five more years of working fulltime at this point in my life. I'm hoping to travel, enjoy my grandkids, and maybe even get back in shape! I am doing my level best to bring the school back into pre-COVID status around events, systems and routines, and to leave the school in shape so that the new principal can hit the ground running.
I am looking for a couple of parents or community volunteers to help me build a FEMA incident command system and outfit the school with the supplies we need to be prepared for a significant event such as an earthquake. (family reunion protocols, first aid, food, water, supplies to help with keeping people warm and dry, supports to help children emotionally through an event. If you're interested, or know someone who has skills we could tap into, please email me!
Have a safe weekend. See you on Tuesday!
Best,
Paula Bond

Message from the School Counselor...
We continue to learn about and discuss honesty, our January character trait. Students have been sharing examples of why honesty is important, as well as times they have been honest, even if it was challenging.
From Character Strong: Let’s talk about what Honesty means when we are talking with others. Remember that Honesty means being truthful in what you say and do. Here are 3 things to remember when practicing Honesty with others. Think before you speak! 1. Is what I want to say the truth? 2. Is what I want to say Kind to others? 3. Is what I want to say helpful? What we say impacts others. Practice Honesty with Kindness this week!
I have enjoyed teaching in all classes over the last couple of months, focusing on anti-bullying with our Second Step curriculum, as well as emotions, calming techniques and our character traits. If you have questions or would like to check in about your student(s), please reach out!
