We are still reading the novel "My Brother Sam is Dead." We will finish this quarter, and students are encouraged to take an AR Test over it.
The PRESIDENT SCRAPBOOK PROJECT was assigned on March 28 and will be DUE on MAY 17. No late projects will be accepted. Please see the attachment information regarding this
project.
Next week the CHAPTERS 10 & 11 TEST will be on Wednesday, April 17. A study guide has been given to help with studying. I will also be collecting the Chapter 10 Learning Guide (which was completed in class) and the Chapter 11 Worksheet on April 17.
As always feel free to contact me with any questions.
Algebra and Geometry - Cerutti
Algebra students have begun learning about polynomials. We will continue this and test over the unit around April 24th. (That's the target date to be done!)
Geometry students have begun learning about Measuring Length and Area of all shapes we have discussed all year long. Their unit homework is due on April 18th and their test is on April 22nd (assuming we miss no days between now and then).
Automation and Robotics - Eastep
Students are designing, building, and programming a chassis. The chassis will include a limit switch that shuts off the motors if it hits a wall or object. The students will compete with each other around a track set up in the commons.
Barry Robotics Heading to Worlds!
Science - Gunther
Students have been busy researching the characteristics of different phylums and classes of animals and putting together a digital presentation to share their findings with others. A variety of different platforms are being used to showcase their information including digital bulletin boards, websites, newsletters, magazines, videos, infographics and slide shows. The project deadline is Monday, April 15.
Spanish - Greco
This week we practiced our AR verbs. We also reviewed how to conjugate our AR verbs. We will have a test on Monday.
Math - Baskerville
We have been working through Topic 6: Transformations. Our mid-topic assessment will be on Wednesday, April 17th. Our post-topic assessment will be the following week on Wednesday, April 23rd.
Computer Literacy - Delaney
Students in computers chose to either create their own app or design their dream homes. Most chose the dream home, and they are almost finished! Their houses look great! The one pair who chose the app have been working diligently to get their game to work, and I am confident they will succeed by Monday (the due date!) After sharing on Tuesday, we will move on to the video editing software I've been promising them all semester. We will use WeVideo to create stop-motion videos first.
ELA - McCarty
On Friday, you received an email from your student apprising you of their current grade, any missing assignments, and weekend homework. It is safe to say that eight-grade-itis has set in a little early this year with the number of missing assignments and downturn in quality. Students have been given extensions on deadlines and several in-class work days to complete assignments. At this point, anything missing in the grade book is not eligible to be turned in.
We will be burning rubber between now and MAP testing and I have impressed upon my classes that staying on top of work, managing time wisely, and continuing to put forth one's best effort is critical --learning has not stopped.
I know many kiddos have missed school due to illnesses and extra-curriculars, but it is imperative that students collect their make-up work and have it turned in within a reasonable time frame. The policy is one day for every day missed of class.
This weekend students have a constructed response assignment over Orpheus and Eurydice that is due Monday and they can begin looking over their chosen text for the literary analysis essay due on April 22nd.
Next week they will have time to work on their essays and we will begin the hero's journey (monomyth) and archetypes.
