Lion's Den Donations

Our campus is excited to have the Lion's Den! This room is filled with fun activities and is earned as a reward by students. Students have various ways they can earn “den” time.

Our den is full of board games, arts/crafts, puzzles, books, foosball, air hockey, electronics, and more! We continue to add to our den. If you have new or gently used items, we are accepting donations. High request items are school appropriate video games, gaming systems, arcade games, board games, dry erase markers, comfy chairs, paint, paint brushes, fun lighting, books, etc. If you choose to donate, please drop the item/s at the front door and label them “Lion's Den.” We can’t wait for our students to enjoy!!

Are you not getting Text messages???

Counselor's Corner

We will be opening for a limited number of visitors during our lunches. We will use a Sign up to reserve (up to 2) visitors per student. We ask that you only sign up once every 3 weeks to allow for all families to share this opportunity. Please use this link to sign up for Lunch Visitors. We are going to start small, with one week published to be able to adapt and change things after the 1st week. After that, we will publish 3 weeks at a time. The link will be the same for the year and will be posted on our website for quick reference.

Make sure that you sign up under the correct grade level and date. We ask that you have no more than 2 visitors per student. If you have an extenuating circumstance, please call the front office and we will work with you! When signing up for two visitors, please sign each person up in a separate slot. We need to limit visitors to 6 adults total per grade level per day. We also ask that you sign up once per 3 week period so that every parent has an opportunity to sign up.

Picnic Days:

These will be days that parents (up to 2) can come and have lunch under the pavilion with their student. Parent will be responsible for student supervision, as our staff will be monitoring the students in the cafeteria. We will still be having recess during this time, so students (eating lunch with parents) will not be permitted to play on the playground...this will be a time for parents to talk and spend time with their student while eating lunch. We ask at the close of lunch, parents leave promptly to allow students to return to their daily schedule. Staying for recess will not be permitted.

PK (10:50-11:20)-October 15th

Storybook Pumpkins:

It's that time of year! Storybook Pumpkin letters are going home with kids! Mrs. Hiser will be explaining the project with students next week in the library with all classes. This is a fun activity for you to do as a family. Remember, pumpkins must be fake. Please email her at mhiser@conroeisd.net if you have any questions.

Air Purifiers:

Over the next 3 weeks, we will be adding some industrial air purifiers to our cafeteria, Music room, Art room, Library, and Clinic. This is exciting, because will be a long term aid to help mitigate many common illnesses like flu and strep. This machine heats up the air to clean it then cools it to push it back out fresh and clean.

Referral Requests for Gifted and Talented Testing

Referral requests are now open for Conroe Independent School District Gifted and Talented program. Although the testing will not take place until late January, referral requests are only accepted at this time. Referral requests can be made by the parents and/or teachers. It is recommended that parents of 2nd grade students wait until CogAT scores have arrived before nominating their child because CogAT scores are part of the GT assessment. If you are interested in referring your child, you may want to discuss this with your child’s teacher at conferences. Referrals will be accepted through December 17. All students will need to have a referral and parent survey submitted during this window (10-1-2021 to 12-17-2021). You may use the links below to access the forms, request a copy from the front office, or the assessment coach (Megan Caldwell). You can also find the referral form and other GT information on the CISD GT homepage.
