Weekly Updates from Madison High School - September 11, 2019
MTSS to Address Student Needs
This year at Madison, we are implementing a researched based model known as Multi Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS). As part of the implementation, the MTSS leads will work with a group of dedicated teachers on campus to more actively address the needs of the students at Madison High School. The team will work with teachers and students to address the addressing academic and social emotional needs of our students. Students will have the opportunity to work with the MTSS leads to meet to their social emotional needs as well as develop an academic plan for success. The goal of this implementation is to increase attendance at school, engagement within the school community, and college and career readiness.
For more information or questions, contact Michael Salamanca (msalamanca@sandi.net) or Brittani Siracusa (bsiracusa@sandi.net).
Parent Institute Tuesdays through October 29 at 6:00 pm
There is still space available in Madison's Parent Institute. This is an opportunity to parents to understand the high school system and strategies for student success. The program also explores postsecondary and financial aid options. In October, there will be an opportunity for parents to meet with the principal. These classes are offered to families at no charge. and are presented in English and Spanish. The presentations take place in room 105, 109 and 111.
Schoolwide Learner Outcomes
We expect all students to strive to achieve our Schoolwide Learner Outcomes of Excellence (academic and extracurricular), Leadership, Social Justice and Readiness. This is an expected outcome of our school accreditation. Parents are part of this mission. During the fall and spring open houses you will learn what is happening in the classroom and within the school community to ensure that every student is engaged in experiencing success in each of these four areas.

Parents play a key role in enforcing school policies; please make sure you understand these policies.

- Construction Underway at Madison: Soltec is actively working on the roof and in the classrooms to get ducting installed for the air conditioning units. The estimated completion date is fall 2020. Visit Madison’s website for construction updates.
- Dropping Students Off: Parents are reminded that the student parking lot, Doliva and Warhawk Way are the recommended drop-off points for students in the morning hours.
