Causes and spreading
Typhoid fever is caused by a bacteria called Salmonella typhi. It is spread through contaminated food,water, and drink ,But, when you get it, you can spread it through feces and urine. When the bacteria enters your body it will first attack your intestines and then attack blood cells.
Symptoms of Typhoid fever
When you get Typhoid fever you will experience in the early stages;
- ill feeling
- high fever (103 degrees)
- abdominal pains
- diarrhea
- rose spots (a rash on the chest and abdomen that appear circle like)
- abdominal tenderness
- agitation
- bloody stool
- chills
- confusion
- difficulty paying attention
- fluctuating mood
- hallucinations
- nose bleeds
- severe fatigue
- lethargic feeling (feeling slow or sluggish)
- weakness
Treatments
To cure Typhoid fever it is recommended you go to a doctor or hospital. They will then give you an IV that has fluids filled with electrolytes that will attack the bacteria in your body. You can also get electrolyte filled water to drink and it will have the same effect. After starting treatment symptoms should cease in 2-4 weeks. If treatment is started early, the recovery will be easy and short, but if started in later phases the treatment will go on for a longer period on time and the Typhoid fever will be harder to get rid of.
Prevention
A vaccine is recommended to anyone who travels out of country.People should also be careful to not drink any contaminated water or eat any contaminated foods. A way to make sure you don't drink or eat any contaminated things is by boiling water before you drink it and to cook your food thoroughly.
