Sheridan Newsletter 3.3.23
March 3, 2023
A Message from the Principal
Dear Sheridan families,
Happy Friday and happy March! We avoided a snowstorm AND celebrated Read Across America with a great school-wide read this afternoon! Please check your email for your child's Trimester 2 Report Card and Attendance Update. Up next week…3rd Grade Olympics, 4th Grade Cardboard Arcade, AND Parent-Teacher Conferences! Please see lots of good information below…
Let the madness begin...March Math Madness that is!
This March, Sheridan students will have the opportunity to strengthen their math fact fluency by participating in a bracket-like tournament representing their Sheridan Shark house. Every Monday in March, all K-4 students will come home with a March Math Madness fluency packet full of directions, a calendar, and a variety of printed and online math games. If your Sheridan Shark practices their facts, gets their calendar signed by a parent, then they earn points for their team. Teams with the most participation/ points advance in the bracket. If you have any questions, please email me at ebillock@lfschools.net. Game on, Sheridan Sharks! ~Mrs. Erin Billock Math Specialist
Calling all Kindergarten Families for 2023-2024 School Year:
If you have an incoming kindergarten for the 2023-2024 school year, please register your child on the District 67 Website. The sooner you complete your pre-registration AND verify your residency, the sooner we can include your child in our calculations for enrollment and staffing. Thank you!
Parent Input for 2023-2024 School Year:
The placement of students in classes is a lengthy process, which begins in April and continues through May. The classroom teacher, as well as other staff members who have contact with the student, look at a number of factors as class lists are created.
Factors include a student’s academic abilities, social and emotional needs and any special needs as we make placement decisions. We strive to have classes which balance gender, student abilities, special needs, social relationships, and personality.
Staff will be working collaboratively with the administration to create balanced homerooms for next year. As always, you will know your child's homeroom teacher in August.
If you have information that you would like to share regarding your child, please submit your thoughts though this optional FORM.
Please note: Specific teacher requests will not be considered. Please make sure your input is provided in relation to the environmental factors that will help your child find the most success.
Have a great weekend!
Sincerely,
Susan
