#SPEED21
Checking In!
Welcome Back!
I hope you all have settled in to the 15-16 school year! I've enjoyed seeing many of you as I visit campuses...if I haven't seen you, yet, I will soon! THANK YOU to all of you who continue to support teachers on your campuses who are trying out different digital and interactive tools in their classrooms. Your coaching and mentoring are what help to make your peers feel comfortable trying new instructional approaches!
A New Look to SPEED21
This year finds the SPEED21 classroom model focused on the 5-12 Digital Adoption in Social Studies. Implementation of the Chromebooks has gone very smoothly and a lot of the professional development and implementation processes were based on our SPEED21 work from the last 3 years! You can follow the #SSgoesChromeWISD journey on Twitter. Thank you for being the trailblazers!
Don't Forget...
The SPEED21 lessons you all created are still in Forethought and are referred to frequently as schools adopt more and more technology equipment. Continue to implement your plans, let me know of any changes that need to be made (like was done with the revision of the Math TEKS), and share! I know I will!!
Also New: #URLearning
This year also brings #URLearning, a new iPad pilot at Whitt and Smith Elementary Schools. #URLearning is led by the campus administration with instructional support provided by the Staff Development Team, and Learning Specialists Jacque Prater & Tracy Halligan (and PROUD to say that both served as Year 1 SPEED21 teachers!!). The pilot has deployed 5 iPads in every classroom at these campuses, as well as monthly professional learning opportunities on specific apps to enhance instruction. View the #URLearning SMOREs & resources on the SPEED21 Website.
Professional Learning Opportunities Continue!
We still plan to host our annual SPEED21 Conference this summer to provide quality face-to-face learning opportunities in the area of instructional technology! Look for more details in the spring! Looking for other excellent conferences? You might consider attending edCampDallas in Plano this November, TCEA 2016 in Austin this February, or an all Google focused #edCampGoo in Burleson this January!
