Egg Harbor Township High School
WEEK OF October 18, 2020
A Message From Our Principal
Greetings,
It’s finally here! Students will be coming back to school, even if only for a few days a week! It will be exciting to have the halls and classes filled with young people ready to learn. I know this will not be easy for many students, parents and staff, but we will do everything we can to make this the best experience on the road to getting back some sense of normalcy.
What will school look like you may ask? Classrooms are set up to social distance from others. Most classrooms range from 8-12 students depending on the size of the room. Signs are posted everywhere to remind us we are still in a pandemic and there are rules to follow. Parents, students and teachers, we need everyone's help. Masks are required so please do not leave your house without them. Parents remember to do a temperature check before sending your child to school. If anyone is feeling sick or has a temperature of 100.4, please stay home. The bathrooms have occupancy signs of no more than two people at a time. Hallway signs remind you to keep your mask on and stay 6 feet apart. We will all need to do our part to follow the health and safety guidelines so that schools will remain open and safe for all. Respect for each other is key to a smooth running operation of the school. You should know that our custodial crew will be continually moving through the school all day. High touch areas such as bathrooms, railings, door handles will be wiped down every 45 to 60 minutes as they sweep through the building. Students in classrooms will be asked to help as they enter and leave by simply wiping down their desk. This will help to stop the spread of any germs.
Breakfast will be made available for students as they enter the building and head to their first period. Keep in mind that everything in the classroom will be teacher directed so masks will be worn at all times. Students will need to ask permission to remove their masks while sitting down 6 feet from all others to eat if necessary. Again, all is teacher directed. Lunch will be served as a ‘grab and go’ as students exit school. Students are asked not to eat on the buses but wait until they are safely dropped off at home. Lockers and locker rooms will not be used so students are asked to wear sneakers and be ready for PE class each day. Teachers will let you know if you need to bring your books to school; this will help in not having to carry everything.
Freshmen students, don’t be nervous! We are here to help! Your teachers and senior ambassadors will help you to learn about the building. Check out the video tours below. We got this! You will be fine.
Ok everyone, we are #EHTready! Let’s do this! Monday will be a virtual day and Tuesday we will see all students on the A schedule and we cannot wait!
Have an awesome weekend! Until next week, stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
