Lake Lanier Tournament of Bands – 10/5

Schedule for the day:

10:00 a.m. Rehearsal begins in the RHS Stadium
12:00 p.m. Lunch
1:30 p.m. Meet in Band Room
1:45 p.m. Depart for Chestatee High School

3:00 p.m. Arrive at Chestatee High School
4:30 p.m. Warm Up
5:15 p.m. SHOWTIME!

8:30 p.m. Awards
9:30 p.m. Depart for Roswell HS

10:30 p.m. Arrive at Roswell HS

11:15 p.m. Band Room Closes

Concessions: There will be a full line of concession food available throughout the day. Food available will include hamburgers, hotdogs, pizza, nachos, drinks, candy and popcorn. We are not collecting orders for meals for this particular event; please bring money for concessions.

Tickets: Tickets for all spectators will be $10. Children 5 and under will be admitted for FREE.

Parking: Parking for general public will be FREE. Please see attached MAPS for details.

First Aid: A First Aid station will be available inside the stadium for any emergency.

Videotaping: Video cameras may be brought into the stadium; however, tripods are not permitted. All videotaping must be done from the seating area. No one shall be allowed to film performances from the aisles or around the press box.

After ceremony: At the conclusion of the awards ceremony, all band members, parents, etc. who are not involved in the awards presentation must not enter the field area. This is not only for the safety of everyone but also to preserve the dignity of those students accepting trophies for their bands.

Our first concert is coming up, and we can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve been learning!

On the day of a Roswell concert, students are expected to assist in the transport of percussion equipment, chairs and stands to and from the performance site. Transport and setup of equipment to the performance site will normally occur immediately following school on the day of the concert. Break-down and transport of equipment back to the original location will occur immediately following the concert. It is part of their responsibility as a member of the ensemble.


· Business casual

· No jeans or tennis shoes

· Dresses should be shin-length or longer when sitting



3:30 p.m. School dismissed

6:00 p.m. Roswell CONCERT BAND on stage for warm-up (allow time to walk from Band Room)

6:20 p.m. Roswell SYMPHONIC BAND in Band Room for warm-up

6:20 p.m. Roswell WIND ENSEMBLE 1 in Auditorium

6:30 p.m. Concert starts

8:00 p.m. Concert ends

CONCERT BAND FINAL REHEARSAL: Wednesday, October 2 (Band Room) from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Excused Absences

If you are missing a rehearsal, you must complete an Excused Absence Form electronically and submit to Mr. Moon BEFORE the date. Please be aware that even though a form has been submitted, it does not mean the absence has been approved. Mr. Moon will contact you directly to let you know. Excused Absence Request Form:



We are currently at $21,000! There are 2,475 tickets floating around out there so our gross process can jump up even more! If you have already sold tickets, PLEASE turn them in. Submit any sold ticket stubs with cash/checks into the RHS Front Office so you can qualify for weekly prizes: free movies, coffee, go karting, bowling and fun at Andretti’s. We are also giving away Amazon Gift Cards: Sell 35 tickets = $20; 55 tickets = $40. And we have a Grand Prize winner who will get either an iPad, Nintendo Switch or $300 AMEX Gift Card!

The target is 45 tickets per student:

· 1st Checkpoint: Sell 25 tickets by 9/25.

· 2nd Checkpoint: Sell next 20 tickets by 10/20

We need volunteers to help with the raffle table during events and football games. Shifts are usually only a couple of hours, so this is an easy way to pitch in. We need every band parent to work at least one Jeep Event. Check out the Charms calendar for dates/times or just email to sign up.

Band Directory Is Ready

The RHS Band Directory is ready for launch! The band directory has been designed to help our band community establish easy ways to communicate and get to know each other. It will be extremely useful at football games, competitions, and other band events so that volunteers and staff can quickly locate student and/or parent information in the event of an urgent situation or if parental consent is needed.

The directory contains student and parent contact information, instruments, and a student photo. It was developed in DirectorySpot and populated with information from Charms, which means some information may be missing or incorrect. In particular, we do not have photos for freshman classroom band students. If your student does not have a photo in the directory, you can either email one to or just have your student grab one of our band photographers at any of our band events (including concerts) and ask them to take a picture!

Access to the directory will be provided to all email addresses listed within the band family contacts. You'll be able to access it via web browser and a mobile app. Look for an email on Friday, September 27th with a subject similar to "Roswell High School Band - DirectorySpot Account" and follow the instructions to set your password and access the directory.

Extravabandza food truck night is fast approaching! It’s scheduled for October 4th from

4:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. We are having a bake sale, so we will need a lot of yummy, individually wrapped snacks. It will be a great night with food trucks, face painting, a DJ, trick or treating for the kids, Star Wars characters and a whole lot more. The night ends with the Hornet Swarm performing their show with commentary by Mr. Moon! Ticket purchases can be made online or at the door.

This event requires many parent and student volunteers. We still need chaperones, help with the baking team, photographers, etc. Please sign up on Charms using the link below:

We need candy donations for our Trick or Treaters! Place your unopened bags of individually-wrapped candy in the box labeled “ExtravaBANDza” just outside of Mr. Moon’s office. Thanks!

RHS Band Room

Our mattress sale is coming up next month! All this fundraiser requires is advertising on our part! Your student will get a personal credit on their Charms account for any sale made in their name: $50 per mattress and $10 per pillow! Students are not required to attend. However, we will just need a few band parents there to assist when necessary.

Please help distribute flyers to help us advertise this event. If you need more, they are in the band room on the table across from Mr. Moon’s office. Get creative! And be sure to put your name on the flyer so you get credit for the sale.

· Tape them on the outside of your neighbor’s mailboxes

· Post them in your break room

· Put them on local restaurants or café bulletin boards

· Ask if you can post them in local establishments

· Hand them out at your next social or sporting event
