January 5th Professional Development Speaker Information
Dr. Curtis Chandler will present to our Elementary Staff from 8:00am - 9:00am in the De Soto High School Little Theatre.
Dr. Curtis Chandler is an Education Specialist, Staff Developer, Researcher, and Keynote Speaker working with ESSDACK to improve the instructional capacity of schools. He has worked with the Center for Teacher Quality, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the Mid-American Association for Computers in Education, and with school districts around the nation to improve student learning through the use of instructional technology, problem-based learning, Language Arts instruction, and implementation of College and Career Readiness standards. Curtis was named the Kansas State Teacher of the Year in 2011 and is also an inductee into the Mid-America Educator Hall of Fame.
Caitlin Tucker will present to our Secondary Staff from 7:30am - 9:30am in the Little Theatre at Mill Valley High School.
Catlin Tucker is a Google Certified Teacher and CUE Lead Learner. She teaches 9th and 10th grade English language arts at Windsor High School in Sonoma County, where she was named Teacher of the Year in 2010. She has also taught online college level writing courses, which led to her interest in blended learning.
Corwin published her first book Blended Learning for Grades 4-12 in June 2012 and she authored a blended learning course for ASCD. She co-authored a book titled Creating Your Google Apps Classroom, which was published in June 2014. She is currently working on her second solo book Using Technology to Teach the Common Core Literacy Standards. Catlin has published articles in Educational Leadership, OnCue, and theTeacher Librarian Journal.

The Blue Valley School District is once again inviting local school districts to participate in their workshops. Two workshops are currently available and they are hoping to add more later in the year. Presently, they are offering Web 2.0 in February and iPad in April.
