Resources to Engage the Heart

Mi Arts Education Instruction and Assessment Program

Highlight again this month...a MUST SEE.

The Michigan Assessment Consortium (MAC) and Michigan Department of Education (MDE) teamed up to develop Performance Assessments for Arts Instruction. They are piloting the performance assessments for High School this year. If you are interested in participating in the pilot of these assessments, read further - CLICK HERE.

The MAC & MDE are continuing to write items. Field testing for additional grades will begin for the 15-16 school year.

Instructional Resources

Edutopia

In addition to The Teaching Channel mentioned last month, Edutopia.org is another great resource for videos and articles on educational best practices. There is a lot of power in integrating Visual Arts into instruction.

This month, view this video on integrating Arts in our classrooms. It centers on Middle School, but can be adapted at any grade level. This is a great way to see what other Arts teachers are doing!
