January Newsletter

Happy New Year to all! I hope that everyone enjoyed a lovely break and I am very impressed to see that the children have jumped right back into the school routine so smoothly. In January we will be working on academic Winter Screening gathering data to guide reading, writing and math instructional targets. I look forward to sharing student progress with parents on the Progress Reports in Aspen early next month. Please be sure that you are able to log into ASPEN to be able to access your child's progress report.

Social Studies & Science

First graders are enjoying many activities to celebrate the New Year this month. We will be learning more about Martin Luther King and discussing how we all may be able to make a difference. We will be reading fiction and non-fiction texts to explore the positive things we can do to improve the world around us in our homes, classroom, school, community and the world. We will begin by encouraging compassion of others and reaching out to lend a helping hand to all.
