Principal's Message
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
One of our fabulous 4th grade teachers, Karie Cooper is currently traveling with the Mwebaza Foundation in Uganda, visiting our sister school, the Mwebza Annex School in Nkugulutale, Uganda. She is traveling as an ambassador for our school and is working with teachers and students there to continue to connect our two communities.
Prior to her departure we hosted a video call between our students here in Longmont and the students in Nkugutale. The students presented information and performed music and poetry for each other. They were also able to ask each other questions about their lives and communities. Our intermediate students wrote pen pal letters to their friends across the globe and Ms. Cooper is delivering those letters and collecting the responses as we speak.
Ms. Cooper is keeping a blog of her experiences (which many students and families have already checked out!) and you are all invited to take a look and interact with her throughout this journey. We are so fortunate as a school to be able to support this type of cultural exchange and we are so grateful to promote global citizenship amongst our young learners.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Warmly,
Amanda

Preschool Update
As you know, we will be increasing our preschool capacity and adding another classroom to serve more students and families. We know that early childhood education is a very important support for children and families and we are thrilled to be welcoming more young learners and leaders to our Eagle Crest community!
New this year, we will be offering both half and full day options for preschool. Our half day program will keep the same structure we have had for a number of years. Our full day program will include a time for students to have lunch, take naps and extend learning opportunities through our play-based curriculum and activities.
Please share this information with friends and family here in Longmont. If you are interested in more information about this is a wonderful opportunity please contact Dinah in the office. We are excited for this incredible opportunity to serve our local community and we appreciate your support.

PTO Update
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
We are so excited to launch our largest fundraiser of the year - Laps for Leadership, our annual school-wide fun run! Our goal this year is to raise $20,000 in support of funding for school-wide areas of need such as enrichment programs, field trips, technology upgrades, classroom aides and so much more! Did you know our PTO has funded more than $18,000 this school year to support Eagle Crest students and staff?
Hello Eagle Crest Families,
We are using a new online donation platform this year from Get Movin' that makes it easier than ever to share with family and friends and track our school's fundraising progress. We officially kick-off at the student assembly next Wednesday, but you can start registering your student today by following the instructions on our site Laps4Leadership.com. More info will be coming home in next week's Thursday folder.
We have a Kona Ice Fundraiser next Friday, April 8th after school from 3-4 p.m. If you have questions or need help registering, stop by the Kona Ice truck and speak to a PTO committee member!
Have a good week,
Jenn Pensy, PTO president

100 Mile Club
100 Mile Club is a long standing tradition at ECES and it is a great opportunity for your students to improve their health awareness, social well-being and build self-confidence as they reach goals along the way.
Over the course of the Spring we will be running laps on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings (7:45-8:15am), in order to reach the big goal of completing 100 miles! Students in grades K-1 must be accompanied by an adult, but all families are welcome to join us. In fact, in the past many families have shared that this has been a great opportunity to connect with others and make friends in the community. We would also love to have some extra parent volunteers each morning to help the students track their laps/miles.
As students reach milestones along the way they will be awarded with incentives. At the completion of the first 25 miles your student will receive a 100 Mile Club t-shirt. Once your student reaches 50 miles they will receive a pencil. Upon reaching 75 miles your student earns a wristband. Finally, when your child reaches 100 miles they will be awarded a very special 100 Mile Club medal.
The registration cost for 100 Mile Club is $20 per runner this year. We have switched over to the ONLINE ONLY registrations again this year. As part of the online registration you will pay through Revtrak using the link below. All students must register online before arriving to 100 Mile Club in the morning.
