7th and 8th grade News
Week of Nov. 16th
Happenings in 7th and 8th
Here's what you can expect in the upcoming week (along with other information)!
REPORT CARDS AND CONFERENCES
Report Cards will be going out on Wednesday, and nest week, we will be having Parent-Teacher conferences. A few things about conferences:
1. Schedules should have been sent out by the office already. If you have been scheduled for a time you cannot make and would like to reschedule, please contact the main office directly and they will set you up with what you need.
2. While it will not be absolutely necessary for your student to be present during their conference, I would strongly encourage them to be present. This is because there will be certain things that I would like for your student to be able to explain to you. Also, I will be asking them to choose two best writing assignments they've turned in to me to bring to the conference to show you their writing progress. Finally, I hope that by the last conference of the school year, that your student will be able to do all the talking and completely lead the conference themselves. This is the goal, however, and we'll see how close we can get to that.
Field Trip on Nov. 18th CANCELLED
Our Field Trip that was scheduled for this Wednesday has been cancelled. We were unable to get enough volunteer drivers in time. Thank you to those of you who volunteered and I hope you do again for our next one. I apologize for the inconvenience, and I will be sure to offer more time for volunteer drivers to volunteer for the next field trip. I realize that this was a bit last minute. If you would like to be a volunteer driver in the future and you have not yet completed the Safe Environment class and background check, please contact the office when you can so they can set you up right away. I know that was one of the issues this time around, was people trying to volunteer to drive, but had not yet completed the necessary paperwork.
Birthdays for this week are Kate Wood and Mario Mendoza on November 16th and November 17th, so a special happy birthday to those two and I hope your families have a great celebration!
Fulcrum Tuition Assistance Application for 2016-17...Deadline Dec 4th!
The window of time has opened for next year's tuition assistance application. This is an opportunity to receive $1100 for each child in grades K - 8, based on a family's income level. You can apply at: http://www.fulcrumfoundation.org/apply-for-grant/assistance/. This application is available in both Spanish and English. As we prepare for tuition contract meetings this Spring, please note that families will not be eligible for any financial assistance through Holy Rosary school UNLESS they have first applied through the Fulcrum Foundation. This means that no contracts will be negotiated without applying first through Fulcrum. Berenice (at the Front Desk) is happy to help parents complete the online application. If you need to schedule a time to meet with her to go through the application, please email her at email@example.com. Applications must be completed by Friday, Dec. 4th.
