Hello Foster Families
Hello Foster Families,
I am asking for some help at the walker dismissal area: Grade one parents, we need you to please come to the door to get your student. Staff are not going to let students walk out unless you come to the door. We are trying to not create an unsafe situation where a student might be dismissed and ends up being unattended in the parking lot looking for an adult. With the volume of walkers leaving the school at the end of the day, it can feel a little chaotic. Please help us make sure your child is safe and with the appropriate adult.
It has been a very chilly week. We had students who were sent to school without a coat on the day it had snowed. If you are in need, please let Mr. Scheufele, Ms. Duggan, or Ms. Campbell know and we will help you get winter gear for your child. It is too cold during the winter to be sending students outside without proper attire to keep them warm. Please help us continue to give students their opportunity for outside play. Your attention to this matter is greatly appreciated.
I am very excited to say that the registration for the Math Olympics is open. Being new to Foster last year I had not experienced it before. Now that I have seen this in action, it is a great opportunity for our students. I am so proud of our Math Olympians and I look forward to seeing their success!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Mr. Scheufele

If you do not see your child's artwork in the slideshow and would like to, please give your permission to Artsonia by linking to your child's free Artsonia account here: https://www.artsonia.com/connect/4DMS33D4. I am required by Artsonia to then approve any such requests.
I hope that you love them as much as I do! - Mrs. McKeon, The Art Teacher
NEW SCHOOL NAMING
The new elementary school that will replace the current Foster School is set to open next fall. We are excited to see the building continue to take shape as construction continues.
Thank you to the over 600 members of our community who already shared feedback in the first survey that collected suggested names for the new elementary school. The results of this first survey were shared with the school committee. We have narrowed the names down the list of top names. The community is encouraged again to provide feedback in this second survey. (Visit hinghamschools.org/survey.)
The survey results will be shared in January with the school committee to help support the drafting of a warrant article. Once a name has been identified, the school committee submits a warrant article to the Selectboard to be considered for a vote at the Spring Town Meeting. Town bylaw states that naming a municipal building requires approval by Town Meeting.
Thank you for your participation in this exciting process!
Social Studies Review Survey
Hingham Public Schools is currently undergoing a program review of our K-12 social studies curriculum, instruction, and assessment. As part of this process, we are seeking feedback from students, teachers, and community members.
In this survey, we are asking you to reflect on your child(ren)'s social studies classes taken in the Hingham Public Schools.
Your responses are anonymous.
The estimated time to complete the survey is three minutes.
Thank you,
HPS Social Studies Program Review Team

HPS is Here to Help
We know that making ends meet can be difficult for some families in our HPS community. Therefore, we want to let you know that there are individuals in each of our schools who are ready to provide information and assistance. Resources may be available to help families in times of financial need, or other challenging situations. Our particular area of outreach at this time is for food support for the upcoming holidays. Please don’t hesitate to contact an administrator, the school nurse, or counseling personnel in your child's school if you are in need of food support for the holidays. Rest assured that your request will be managed in a way that respects your rights for confidentiality.
Pantry Donations
Let's pack the pantry! Foster School will be collecting donations for the Hingham Food Pantry all year. Right now, the pantry is in need of healthy cereal, pasta sauce, macaroni and cheese, spaghetti, canned tuna, and cookies. Please be sure to check that items are not expired before donating! There is a donation bin in the front lobby. Thank you for your generosity!
