Student Spotlight: Garrett Kunsky
I had the privilege of sitting down and interviewing seventh grader, Garrett Kunsky who was recommended for student spotlight by his teacher for his interest in doing well in academics. Garrett's favorite subject is P.E. because he enjoys playing sports. Running Cross Country this year has been very meaningful to him because, "I got to hang out with my friends and work hard at the same time." He hopes to achieve great things by getting his college degrees and joining Micron. School helps him achieve his goals and he hopes that, by graduation, he will have an advantage so that he might be able to be responsible and do great things on his own. He gets motivated to do his work so that he can be a good example and make his family very proud of him.

College and Career Fair
November 7th, Rimrock had its second annual College and Career Resources Fair. All students 6-12 grade participated. Vendors set booths up around the gym and students walked around to talk to employers and to learn about colleges and jobs. There were twenty-nine vendors at the fair.
Ms. Metcalf said she wants each student to learn something new and find new skills.
She said she came up with the scavenger hunt idea to allow students to learn about colleges and jobs. “The scavenger hunt is my sneaky way of having students do college and career related research,” Ms. Metcalf stated. Forty-three students turned their scavenger hunt sheet in. They were put into a raffle and the winners received prizes from the Rimrock Booster Club and colleges that attended. She hopes to do the college and career fair every year, and her goal is that every year, it is bigger and better.A Note from Ms. Metcalf, A big THANK YOU to the following students for going above and beyond in helping to set up and organize the fair:
Kevin Meyers
Juan Elizondo
Shelbi Ward
Taylor Magers

Fall Play- You're driving me Crazy
This year's fall production was called You're Driving Me Crazy featuring four different acts that show the different experiences of Driver's Ed from the students' and instructors' perspectives and the dangers and drama that is involved.
The actors for this Production included:
Scene 1
Heidi Pearson, Naya Bradshaw
Scene 2
Hannah Field, Logan Field, Martha Araujo, Shelbi Ward, Christian Sharek, Reagan Pearson
Scene 3
Allison Hall, Laura Gasper, Adam Hogaboam
Scene 4
Treau Smith, Hailee Meyers
The cast included four freshmen, eight juniors, and one senior.
All the cast members worked hard to prepare for show night. They practiced two to three times a week along with school and sports. Every cast member was very dedicated and excited for show night. When I asked Heidi Pearson what it's like to perform on stage she said, "It's stressful but its a good stress because you get to make people laugh and make them feel good. It also starts to become natural after the first few minutes onstage." She said that her favorite part about drama is, "Getting to act and be someone else for a while." She also likes getting to dress up and get into character and make people laugh. I also asked if it is hard to memorize all her lines and her response was, "It just depends because some are easier and shorter and others are harder and longer." Overall, Heidi loves drama is excited for the next performance.
This year there were 3 different directors: Patricia simper, Catherine Volk, and Sariah Pearson. When I asked Ms. Simper about the play these were the responses I got. She said that she didn’t do drama in high school or anything. This was her first time directing but she really enjoyed it. She said that she enjoyed directing because she got to work on and help build and put together the car and everything. She also had fun learning from the two other more experienced directors. Patricia says that she hopes to help and direct the next spring play as well as the plays next year. When asked what her thoughts were during the performance on show night she said that she was super proud of the all the actors and all their hard work and dedication.

Junior High Play "Picture Day"
For the very first time we had Jr High kids participate in the school's drama play. I wonder if they liked it and what they liked the most? Lets find out! It was an amazing play for a first production. They had so much fun and were pretty amazed that they did as well as they did. According to Lisbeth Ayala, seventh grader, her most favorite part of the play was, “...playing with stage makeup.” Brynn Burk, seventh grader volunteered because she said, “Drama sounded like lots of fun." Seventh grader, Joslynn Burk’s least favorite part of the play was, “...not having practice everyday.”
As you can see, these lovely ladies loved the school's play for their first time being in one. We are just hoping that our school keeps drama for Jr High students and lets new people experience what it’s like to be on stage and shine like the others. Let them be who they are and try new things. Let’s hope there are more plays for the Jr High kids!

New Score Table
By: Asa Frederick
The National Guard gave Rimrock a score table for basketball. I asked some basketball players what they thought or felt about the table this is what they said.
"I think it's a massive improvement from the last one," Luis Araujo (freshman) said. "It looks spectacular and I like the way the arrows move to the team that has the ball. I think that this table was really needed; our other one was falling apart and there were holes in it, and it was very unstable and in all sorts of pieces." Pedro Varela (freshman) said he likes the other better just because of the lights. But, he likes the new one a little because it's not falling apart like the last one.
Junior High Girls Basketball
The junior high girls basketball team has started up this year and they have been very successful. They have won all their games so far! They have had ten home games and eight away games. I have interviewed some of the girls and here are some things they said. Piper Colyer, a seventh grader and point guard stated, "I just love the game and everything about it." When I asked her what her number one goal for this year is, she responded, “My number one goal for this year is to improve my skill level and get better on all traits." Piper has big plans for herself and basketball, “If I am good enough, I would maybe like to play in college."
Another player I talked to was Maleece Markham, an eighth grader. When I asked her what she like about basketball, she stated, “I like how competitive it is." Maleece has a number one goal of becoming better at the sport and plays most all of the positions. She also would consider a career in basketball if she is good enough.

High School Girls Basketball
The start of the high school basketball girls season has been excellent. The first game was energetic and stressful and was a great game all around. I was able to interview Xochitl Flores, a freshman player. Xochitl has been practicing her free throws, and she said, “This basketball season is going to be fun, exciting and hard.” In addition to practicing free throws, she has been working on defense and offense and is excited to work as a team. Fabiola Gomez, also a freshman, has been working hard at practice and she said, “This season will be great as well as challenging.” Fabiola is excited to play with the high school girls and get to know them better. Good luck to the lady Raiders this season!
Thanksgiving Memories
By: Elizabeth Rodriguez
Thanksgiving is a holiday that joins many families together, to laugh, to cry, or to remember certain events that bring them closer together.
Ms. Jessica Johnson: For Ms. Johnson, our Rimrock secretary, Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful for all the positive things in her life and to become stressed when it is time to cook the meals for five or more people. After cooking dinner, Ms. Johnson and her family enjoy a happy and a delicious meal together. Every year the turkey that Ms. Johnson cooks always takes more than two to three hours to cook, making it impossible to eat at the time they wish they could.
Ms. Lindsey McKinney: For Ms. McKinney, our Business/Computer teacher, Thanksgiving has a different feeling now than it did while growing up. This is a time to see all extended family (in Ohio) which is 40 plus people. She also enjoys Black Friday shopping online, and watches the Michigan/Ohio State game on the Saturday after thanksgiving. She has been looking forward to it all year.

Leading Lines - A Project by Heidi Pearson
The line is the most fundamental element of art and can be horizontal, vertical, curved or diagonal. It is usually the starting place for most artistic creation. Different lines can create different moods. There are many ways lines are used within photograph compositions.
When used together, vertical and horizontal lines can imply structure and stability.
The lines can also draw the viewer’s eyes deeper into the scene.
