Theme for this Year

As we create a welcoming learning for our 9th - 12th grade scholars here at SPEHS, we will continue to become a commUNITY that will T.H.R.I.V.E. (Trust, Help, Restore, Inspire, Value, Empower..Everyone!!). Knowing that the last three years have been a tough learning experience for scholars, we are actively creating a “culture of care” for our learning community. In creating this culture, we will focus on establishing and at times rebuilding trust in our community, helping all members achieve their goals, restore relationships among the staff and scholars, continue to inspire our team to be their best selves, provide space so everyone feels and is valued, and empower our Cardinals to be global citizens who are kind and will positively impact Sun Prairie community.

2022 - 2023 Student Handbook

As we launch this school year with 3 High Schools in Sun Prairie (Sun Prairie East, Sun Prairie West and Prairie Phoenix Academy) we are united in our high expectations and high levels of support for students. Please grab a cup of coffee, refill your water or your favorite beverage and carefully read through our Student Handbook. This includes LOTS of important information from academics to student/parent/caregiver support to school nutrition and student fees.

CARES at Sun Prairie East High School

Sun Prairie East High School strives to foster a positive school culture and safe, effective, engaging learning environment for all students by showing CARES.

CARES:

  • Community: I am a reflection of the community

  • Accountability: I one my actions and make things right

  • Respect: I show kindness to myself and others

  • Empathy: I understand how others feel

  • Safety: We are all responsible; see something, say something

We will be grounding ourselves in CARES at the start and throughout the year in the classrooms, hallways and extracurricular events. Athletic and other curricular events are an extension of school and we will shine to the community by having high expectations in those spaces as well. Staff Spotlight- Pang Khang- Dean of Students

Hello Sun Prairie East!

I hope this letter finds you well and that you found some time to enjoy your scholar’s time off from school.

My name is Pang Khang and I am the Dean of Students at Sun Prairie East High School. This is my second year as the dean here and my tenth year as an educator.

I live with my husband, three children, and mother-in-law in Sun Prairie. We enjoy walking to the nearby parks, biking on the trails, and swimming at our auntie’s pool.

Some things I can’t live without are:

  • Wildflowers

  • Bike rides

  • Pho noodles

  • Navam

  • Korean dramas

  • Adobe Creative Cloud

  • growwithjo

Some things I CAN live without are:

  • Yard work

I’m sure there is more that I can add to that list of things I CAN live without, but currently, yard work is at the top of my mind. I still have yet to find the joy of weeding, mulching, trimming, and cutting the grass.

Thank you for taking the time to read and learn more about me. I hope you’ll give me the opportunity to also learn more about you, your family, and your scholars. I look forward to working together to help all our students thrive here at Sun Prairie East.

All my best,

Ms. Khang
