Next Week in Second Step:
This month, our schoolwide theme is problem solving. In our morning announcements and school assembly we’ll be reminding students to use the Second Step Problem-Solving Steps:
S: Say the problem
T: Think of solutions
E: Explore consequences
P: Pick the best solution
As you can see, the first letter of each step spells the word ”step.” Remembering “step” helps students solve problems with each other in safe and respectful ways.
The final Problem-Solving Step is P: Pick the best solution! Once you have named the positive and negative consequence of each solution you thought of, you can pick the solution that works best. It’s easy to remember our Problem-Solving Steps because they spell the word “step,” S, T, E, P. Using the Problem-Solving Steps will help you get along better with your friends and family. This week, if you have a problem, remember to STEP it up and use the Problem-Solving Steps.
Calling all Parent Volunteers for PE! March 2, 3, 4, 7
We will be doing our most fun stations of the year next week! Also, our most difficult to coach and monitor! Gymnastics and agility! If you can give an hour, half day or full day of your time we would love to have you! No gymnastics experience needed. Some of the stations are more agility, balance, and strength based. Think cargo nets, climbing ropes, spring boards, balance beams, stunting, and more. We will have 16 stations set up in the gym with groups of 4-5 students rotating through at a time. It is so helpful to be able to put adult monitors at the more difficult stations so that I can spot them at the gymnastics skill stations. No need to email or sign up, just show up! You can time it for your child’s class and leave or stay for more fun!

Schools to Reopen to Visitors Beginning Monday, February 28
We are pleased to inform you that all Lake Travis ISD schools will reopen to visitors, effective Monday, February 28. This update to our protocols is the result of a significant decrease in the number of staff and student coronavirus cases.
We understand that many of you are eager to visit your child’s campus and/or start volunteering, and we are excited to welcome you back. Accordingly, our school principals may share additional information for visitors and volunteers via individual campus newsletters within the next few days. Please note, this may vary by campus.
Despite the downgrade in COVID cases, all visitors and volunteers on district facilities should remain vigilant as per local health officials. We continue to encourage all staff, students and families to wear a mask while inside and on campus in an effort to mitigate community spread of the virus. In accordance with our safety protocols, we ask that visitors, staff and students stay home if sick with any COVID-related symptoms.
Rest assured, the safety of our staff and students remains our highest priority. We will continue to re-evaluate and update our protocols as needed. We look forward to seeing you in our schools.

District to conduct curriculum audit, parent feedback requested
Dear Lake Travis ISD Parents and Guardians,
Lake Travis ISD leaders have contracted with an external evaluation team from the Texas Association of School Administrators to complete a Curriculum Audit, a comprehensive evaluation of the school district's work in delivering learning to students.
The team will be on site from February 28 to March 3. The audit team will visit schools during that time and will be conducting interviews during the week. However, the team will not have the opportunity to speak with everyone in the district. We would like to use the following survey to gather input from as many people as possible. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey so your opinion can be represented:
All answers will remain anonymous, and survey information is only reported from all respondents, not from individuals. Please complete this survey by 11:59 pm on Thursday, March 3, at which time the survey will no longer be available. Thank you for your participation.
Sincerely,
Stefani Allen
Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction
SMART TAG Reminder:
Please use the SMART TAG dismissal portal to let us know how your child is going home.
Here is the link.
Does your child have an Enrichment Class, Early Dismissal, Absence? Any exception to the daily default dismissal should be entered into the Smart Tag Parent Portal. It is so easy to use, you will love it. Teachers read the report every afternoon right before dismissal to let students know how they will go home each day. You must make any changes before 2 p.m.
Morning Car Rider Line (Drop Off)
*In the mornings, the left lane is not for passing.
*Please do NOT get out of your car in the car rider line. If your student(s) require more assistance than the staff or Safety Patrol can give, please park in the parking lot and walk your students to an entrance.
*Please drive slowly. We do have families that cross at our cross-walk, and we want everyone to feel safe.
*Finally, please exercise patience and grace for our SHE community.
I really appreciate your support in this. Thanks so much!
