Esports Coach of the Year

Brandon Trieu, a track and field coach at Mira Mesa High School and head coach of the school's esports program, was named last week as the 2022 Esports Coach of the Year by the High School Esports League (HSEL).

Trieu was nominated by Mira Mesa students for the award, where he and several candidates from across the nation were evaluated by an HSEL panel.

The prestigious recognition is the latest development for the growing Mira Mesa esports team, which in recent years has grown from a small, loosely organized club into a nationally-recognized program.
