Social Studies
Besides learning about our families, we were reading in our Scholastic News about firehouse dogs! We learned how important their job was a long time ago but now with modern technology, the dogs are now longer needed to work--they just make good company!
Phonics
Short o sounds were the focus this week. Did we ever brainstorm some awesome words that have a short o--and not just 3 letter words! We wrote the phonic word on a foldable but instead of the letter o, we used a dot sticker in its place.
Buddies
We played Top It with our buddies. Top it is like the card game War (for those that remember that game). We were glad our buddies helped us strengthen our number sense.
Math tubs game
Making tens memory game. This table tried it out before it goes into the math tub rotation.
Math Tubs
Determining if equations are true or false and moving along a game board will be moving into our math tub rotation.
Second Steps
Our lesson this week was self-talk. We practiced ways to tell ourselves to stay calm and to focus on what we should be doing. We are trying to practice this throughout the day when we get distracted. The children filled out a speech bubble of what they would say to help them with their self talk.
Go Noodle
Sometimes you just need a break!
Top Dog
Chris was this week's top dog. His favorite animal is a tiger and he loves to eat pancakes. He is pawsome at playing video games and playing basketball. When he grows up, he wants to be an engineer.
Doggy Bag
Reading bags are due on Tuesday mornings.
Library is on Friday.
We had a fire drill today.
