A note from.....
It was great to have some calm weather this week and the sunshine today is very nice to see. An update on the snow days; East China School District wrote a waiver to the State requesting to waive 3 school days, this optional waiver is available every school year. We heard back this week that our waiver of 3 days has been granted. The district is now waiting on the outcome of the many bills have been introduced on the topic by lawmakers and the Michigan Department of Education. The bills are being introduced to provide relief to the school districts due to the extreme weather we have experienced this winter. As soon as there is any official rulings we will post an update. Have a wonderful weekend.

News from St. Clair High School
Mr. Eberhard's Impact on SCHS
Mark Eberhard makes a huge impact on the programming at St. Clair High School. His roles include Biology Teacher and Advanced Placement Biology Teacher, Student Council Advisor, and Director of the Saints Theatre Troupe. His leadership in these roles and to his students is far reaching and resonates through his students as they transition into adult life.
Mr. Eberhard’s influence extends far beyond St. Clair High School and the East China School District. This school year he has been a sponsored presenter at the National Association of Biology Teachers Conference in San Diego, will be presenting at the Michigan Science Teachers Association in Grand Rapids, and has just been invited to be a Reader/Scorer for the World Advanced Placement Biology Exam in Kansas City. Mark has also been recognized as a Blue Water Area Excellence in Teaching Award winner and has received several grants that support his classroom, student council, and theatre programs.
It is clear that Mr. Eberhard is a respected professional and has tremendous energy. We are fortunate to have a teacher of his caliber as a member of the SCHS Faculty and East China School District.

SCHS Alumni Forum
Twenty-one SCHS graduates participated in the SCHS Alumni Forum, held in December. These SCHS Alumna shared their post secondary experiences in college, skilled trades, union training programs, and the military. Our current students were interested to hear the alumna reflect on their SCHS experiences and the impact of decisions, good & bad, on their post secondary options. This type of event is beneficial to all participants. Thank you to the SCHS Guidance Office for their coordination of this Alumni Forum.

2019-20 Kindergarten & Preschool Registration
East China’s state-funded Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP) is a Michigan accredited four-year-old preschool. During the school year, this licensed program offers full day sessions, Monday through Thursday. Experienced instructors strengthen each child’s kindergarten readiness skills by providing activities in a developmentally appropriate and literacy rich environment.
The Little Explorers Preschool is a licensed, tuition-based program for three and four-year-olds. The three-year-old program is two half days a week and the four-year-old program is three half days a week. In a caring atmosphere, experienced instructors offer a variety of learning activities to help each child develop school readiness skills.
