We can hardly believe the Fall semester is coming to a close shortly. I hope your family and you had a nice Thanksgiving Break. We now have two weeks until our two week Holiday Break which is from Decemeber 20th - January 3rd. Students return to class on January 4, 2022.

For the month of December, we have some fun events for our Emery Eagles. Tomorrow night, we will have our Annual Unwrap Reading Night which will be a virtual event starting at 5:30pm. I hear there will be a special visitor reading a book at the event so your family doesn't want to miss it. The homeroom teachers will send their students the link to the event so you can get into the virtual event. There is a section below explaining more details about the fun zoom.

Then we have our Annual Holiday Parties on December 17th for our students. Our wonderful PTO will provide snacks and treats for the parties so you do not need to send anything for the parties. We will have our parties at 3:15pm in the afternoon and the parties are only for the students. We will not have visitors at the parties. The students will have something to look forward to at the end of the day.

Apenas podemos creer que el semestre de otoño este llegando a su fin. Espero que su familia y usted hayan tenido unas buenas vacaciones de Acción de Gracias. Solo tenemos dos semanas para nuestras vacaciones de dos semanas, que son del 20 de diciembre al 3 de enero. Los estudiantes regresan a clase el 4 de enero de 2022.

Para el mes de diciembre, tenemos algunos eventos divertidos para nuestras Águilas de Emery. Mañana en la noche, tendremos nuestro Unwrap Reading Night Anual que será un evento virtual empezando desde las 5:30pm. Escuche que tendremos una visita especial leyendo un libro en el evento así que su familia no se lo querrá perder. Los profesores de aula enviaran a sus alumnos el enlace del evento para que puedan ingresar al evento virtual. Hay una sección a continuación que explica los detalles sobre el zoom.

También tendremos las Fiestas Navideñas Anuales el 17 de diciembre para nuestros estudiantes. Nuestro maravilloso PTO proporcionara bocadillos y golosinas para las fiestas para que usted no tenga que mandar nada. Tendremos las fiestas a las 3:15 pm y solo son para los estudiantes. No tendremos visitas en las fiestas. Los estudiantes tendrán algo divertido para el fin del día.

Dec 13th-17th: Winter Wonderland Car Contest!

Dear Emery Car Rider Parents,

This December we are having a Winter Wonderland themed contest for all my car riders!

If you would like to participate, please bring your student(s) to school with your car decorated all week December 13th-17th. Cars decorated on December 17th will be gifted with a delicious donut! Thank you for sending our students off on the winter break with a smile!

Our Holiday Parties will be on December 17th at 3:15PM. Our wonderful PTO will provide snacks and treats for the parties. Please remember there are no visitors allowed at the school. You do not need to send anything for the parties. If you have any questions please feel free to call the front desk.

Nuestras fiestas navidenas seran el 17 de diciembre a las 3:15PM. Nuestro maravilloso PTO proporcionara bocadillos y golosinas para las fiestas. No es necesario enviar nada para las fiestas. Recuerde que no se permiten visitantes en el campus por razones de salud y seguridad, por lo que no se permitiran visitantes en las fiestas. Medication Drop-Off:

If you would like to drop off a medication for your child, please call the clinic to schedule an appointment at 281-855-9026. You can also email the school nurse at ashley.redd@cfisd.net

Reminders about Medication:

A parent/guardian MUST bring and sign in ANY medication into the clinic. This includes creams, cough drops, inhalers, and other medications. Students may NOT bring it to school in their backpack.

Prescriptions must be within date and have the student’s full name.

If it is an over-the-counter medication such as cough drops, Benadryl, Tylenol, it MUST be a brand new, UNOPENED bottle/bag.

Un padre/tutor legal DEBE traer y firmar por CUALQUIER medicamento que deje en la clínica. Esto incluye cremas, pastillas para la tos, inhaladores, y otros medicamentos. Los estudiantes NO deben traerlo a la escuela en su mochila.

Las recetas deben estar dentro de la fecha y tener el nombre completo del estudiante.

COVID-19:

To access COVID related protocols, please refer to CFISD lead safely Plan at https://www.cfisd.net/Page/6114 for the most up-to-date guidelines.

Students, staff and visitors must screen daily (prior to entering a school bus or school) for symptoms of COVID-19. If symptoms are experienced, individuals must not report to school or work until evaluated by a licensed healthcare provider.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include:

Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Loss of taste/smell
Nasal congestion
Sore throat
Headache
Fever at or above 100°F
Vomiting/diarrhea

Parents/Guardians: Please contact the nurse for any COVID related concerns. If your students are tested for COVID (whether their results may be positive or negative), PLEASE contact the nurse and/or email the test results to her. It is imperative that we keep up-to-date with this information to keep our campus healthy.

Please also pack an extra change of clothes for your student in case they have an accident. The clinic is always in need of pants/shorts and unused underwear. If you have any that you would like to donate, the clinic would be forever grateful!

Family Library Night this month will be part of the Virtual Unwrap Reading Night activities at 5:30pm on Dec. 7, so Ms. McGinness is looking forward to seeing you there!

Name That Book – We have created our Name That Book teams and are working to prepare for our first contest on January 24 by reading from our list of 100 books . A Little Note:

Finally, please look around your home. If you see any books with a library barcode sticker on them that have been hanging out for a while at your house, please bring them to the Emery Library. Even if they go to another CFISD school or the Harris County Library, Ms. McGinness will get them returned to the right place. We are hoping to get all our books back home so they can visit with new families this year!

Did you know that we are increasing our number of ebooks! Your student can check them out by logging into my.cfisd.net and then clicking on the library resources folder. Once in the folder, click on the blue lightbulb to go to our catalog.

From there you can access ebooks through Tumblebooks, PebbleGo, Capstone Interactive, and by searching ebooks in the catalog.
