Message From The Principal

I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break filled with opportunities to make memories with family and friends. We are excited that our students are back at Fort Mill High School, but there is lots of work to be done as we wrap up the 1st semester. We are currently in the middle of End of Course (EOC) testing and will head directly into final exams next week.

The final exam schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, January 15--3rd and 4th Block Exams

Thursday, January 16--1st and 2nd Block Exams

Please note that Thursday, January 16th is the last day of the 1st Semester, which is also a full day per the FMSD calendar. Because a 4-day weekend follows Thursday’s final exams, we anticipate many of our students will have trips or other events planned, which will cause the desire for dismissal immediately following the conclusion of students' last exam.

To assist with the early dismissal process, we will make an early dismissal form available to students via their 2nd block on Monday, January 13th. If you will be requesting that your child be dismissed after final exams on Thursday, please sign off on this form and make sure your child has it with them on Thursday, January 16th. We will not be allowing early dismissals via the phone or email on the 16th. Successful completion of this form will allow us to ensure the early dismissal process goes smoothly and is efficient as well as convenient for our families.

FMHS A Top STEM High School

Fort Mill High School was recently announced as one of the top 5,000 STEM High Schools in the nation by Newsweek. Newsweek partnered with to rank the top STEM High Schools in the country. Over 30,000 schools were analyzed over a three-year period to determine the rankings. We are very proud of the recognition of our school's achievements in STEM.

2nd Semester Schedules

With very few exceptions, 2nd-semester schedules are set. Students were provided ample opportunity to make schedule change requests prior to June 5, 2019--the end of the last school year. Additionally, the counseling office worked with students prior to the start of this school year--during Conflict Resolution this past August--to address incomplete and incorrect schedules. Second-semester schedules were effectively set as of August 19th, 2019--the first day of this school year. We will not entertain 2nd-semester schedule change requests unless the request meets one of the following criteria:

  • A student failed a course and needs to repeat it
  • A student needs a course in order to graduate this school year
  • A senior is dropping a course they no longer need for graduation or college admittance and is seeking to replace it with a free block

Miss Fort Mill High School Pageant

The annual Miss Fort Mill High School Pageant will take place on Saturday, January 25th at 7:00 pm in the Fort Mill High School Auditorium. All tickets will be advanced pre-sales, and no tickets will be available at the door on the day of the event. Tickets may be purchased online through this link or through the GoFan app.

The pageant is sponsored by the FMHS Student Council and serves as the organization's biggest fundraiser each year. Proceeds from the pageant support events that the student council puts on for the student body throughout the year, like Fall Fling, Spring Fling, and Senior Celebration.
