The end of Trimester 2, looking forward to Trimester 3
Greetings,
It is hard to believe but here we are. We’ve reached the last day of the second trimester. Watching students finalize projects, practice presentations, give high-fives, and share words of encouragement has been very rewarding.
Yesterday, I stood in the hallway and watched one of our younger students give a presentation to her classmates. There she stood, head high, shoulders back and speaking seriously. When she finished, a large smile appeared on her face and she excitedly skipped back to her desk, waving at her classmates. I was not in the room and could not hear all of what she was saying but I know that it was a success for her!
I am proud of our students and the teachers that lead them day in and day out. Thank you, parents, for supporting the good work happening at Woodcrest.
This last Sunday, the PTO hosted a Winter Family Fun event. It was only the second event of its kind that I have been able to witness. And, WOW!!! It was such a pleasure to see so many families together enjoying story time, making bird feeders, engaging in outdoors activities, and simply being together. I look forward to more events that unite the greater Woodcrest community in the future. Thank you for bringing your children and spending time together.
I hope you enjoy spring break. I look forward to seeing students back at school Tuesday, March 22.
Con gratitúd,
John Franke

Winter Family Event
Thank you to all the volunteers who made our Winter Family event at Springbrook a great success. Everyone had a great time and we collected over 100 food items to donate.
Dine-to-Donate - March 24, 2022
Mark your calendar for Thursday, March 24 and join us at the Northtown Leeann Chin Restaurant anytime between 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Flyers (paper or digital) must be presented at time of purchase for dine-in or carry-out only. No online or app orders will be counted. Flyers will be available soon.
Mileage Club
Each spring, WCSI PTO sponsors Mileage Club for all students. During recess, they may choose to run around a painted track outside to earn toe tokens (charms that look like feet) to wear on their lanyards. Usually this lasts mid April-end of May depending on how fast the ground dries.
We are currently looking for two co-coordinators to arrange volunteers and prize distribution...talk to the board and we will get you everything you need! We are also looking for several volunteers to monitor running and help with prize distribution during each school day the program is running (Maybe M/W/F). Sign up for the Mileage Club committee in Konstella to stay in the loop!
Wednesday Morning Volunteers
After two years, PTO is once again starting up our Wednesday Morning Volunteer Committee. This group gets together from 9:15-11:45 a.m. each week to help WCSI staff with projects such as pencil sharpening, cutting, art hanging, display making, library help and more. Many hands make light work so we also have time for a lot of coffee and fun conversation! This group is flexible, come the times and weeks that you can. Please let us know if you'd like to co-chair this committee. For more details, sign up on Konstella!
PTO Meeting - Save the date
Monday, April 11 at 6 p.m. is our next PTO meeting. We will discuss exciting spring volunteer opportunities and learn about how to get involved with committee chair and board positions for the 2022-2023 school year.
Summer Reading Initiative
Woodcrest PTO is collecting gently used books for our annual Summer Reading Initiative. Just before school is finished, students are able to pick out free books to read over summer break. We will have a drop off box in the lobby, or if you have a large amount we can pick them up from your house too! Thank you to everyone that donated books already.
