Wellness Day
Wellness Day
On Thursday, November 14th, EHHS held a school wide Wellness Day with the intent of learning about difficult topics students face and strategies to cope or de-stress. Throughout the day, students attended group discussions lead by outside presenters from across the state to discuss issues that can or might have impacted their life. Students chose group discussions which covered issues such as racism, stress & academic burnout, and substance abuse. Following a group discussion, students would then attend a breakout session with EHHS staff members that shared their methods at combating stress or other life struggles. Some breakout options that students selected from were playing games that make you laugh, animal therapy, music listening, journaling, and nature walk & reflection. Overall, the students and staff expressed their appreciation and enjoyment in the day. East Hampton High School is fortunate to have Deacon Art Miller return in the spring for another presentation.

EHHS students participated in the first-ever student-led press conference at the state capitol last week. Organized by Fox 61, the program began with an announcement by State Treasurer Shawn Wooden about changes to the CHET scholarship program. Afterwards, students asked him thoughtful questions about financial literacy, saving for college, and other money-related issues facing teens today. They also got to tour the capitol and meet Rep. Irene Haines. Mrs. Keska, Mrs. Dean, and Mrs. Tietjen organized the trip for students in AP Government, Marketing, and Bellringer News.
