Happy Almost Winter CES STAR ARTISTS and Parents! Students in all art classes received their Square 1 Art Fundraiser Packets last month. We wanted to send a heartfelt Thank You for the support of our fundraiser by purchasing the amazing artwork that was created by your scholars. All of the money raised goes back into the CES Art Department. We then will be able to order new art materials for the second half of the school year. We couldn’t make this possible without your generous support of the Arts at CES.
We are trying something new this year. We will be having our annual Art Show/ Night of the Arts this Spring instead of December as we have done previously. We hope that this change will really help to showcase the amazing skills your children will acquire in their art class this year.
Here are some of the general art vocabulary and concepts we will be studying in Art for the 1st semester:
K: line, shape, color, pattern, and texture. Also a focus on drawing, cutting, and gluing skills.
1st: line, geometric shapes, pattern, primary and secondary colors.
2nd: art tools, neutral colors, organic shapes, and textures.
3rd: directional lines, art media, and rhythm.
4th: parallel line, positive and negative space, the tertiary color family, and variety in artwork.
5th: different subject matters in art as well as the art principles: symmetry, repetition/pattern, proportion, and unity.
With the onset of colder weather and the illnesses that come along with it, we are always in need of donations of tissues and Clorox wipes. If you are able to help by donating either of these items, it will go a long way to help keep germs at bay this winter season. Thank you for your help!
Thank you so much for supporting the Art Department and encouraging your students be creative!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Olds,
Mrs. Dudek
Mrs. Clague
