Husky Happenings
January 30 - February 3
From Mr. Martin
Last week I addressed the benefits of pre-teaching. This week I want to share the concept of think time and/or wait time. When teaching a lesson, there is a moment between asking a question and getting an answer. When posing a question, a teacher must allow time for the students’ brains to process this request and for the students to process their response. Sometimes when managing a class, the teacher is pressed for time, passionate about the subject, or a variety of other factors that may cause this moment of silence to be overlooked. However, when think time is utilized, the dialogue between educator and student is stronger providing better understanding of the lesson. This is another tool that teachers use in monitoring understanding and improving their craft to provide a solid education.
Student Success From Mrs. Rousselo
Conferences are just around the corner. We are hopeful we will have all of you come in and speak with your teachers about your child’s successes.
If you haven't done so, please mark your calendar for Wednesday, Feb 15 (12:00-8:00) in person. We will also have a zoom option available on Thursday, February 16 from 8:00-4:00. There will be NO SCHOOL on February 15,16,17 or the following Monday, February 20.
Tips for before the conference:
Ask your child how she feels about school.
Ask your child if there is anything that he wants you to talk about with his teacher.
Tell your child that you and the teacher are meeting to help her.
Make a list of topics that you want to talk about with the teacher.
Prepare a list of questions such as:
1. What are my child's strongest and weakest subjects?
2. Does my child hand homework in on time?
3. Does my child participate in class?
4. Does my child seem happy at school?
5. What can I do at home to help?

TRMS Fundraiser Tour of Arrowhead Stadium
The Fundraiser Arrowhead Tour is this Tuesday, January 31st! Students who sold three or more boxes of chocolates have earned a tour of Arrowhead Stadium. Students in the 5th and 8th grades will leave TRMS at 8:30am and should be back at school around 1:00pm. 6th & 7th graders will be leaving TRMS at 10:30am and will return around 3:00pm.
***The forecast is for very cold weather on Tuesday. A portion of the tour is outside, so please have your student dress warmly. We strongly discourage shorts being worn and highly encourage coats.
***If your child chose to bring a lunch from home, it would be best if the lunch was in a paper sack with their name on it so students (and chaperones) don't have to keep track of lunch boxes.
Congratulations to all our super sellers! Have a great time on your tour.
