PRE-K 4 NEWS!
JUAN DIEGO ACADEMY JUNE 1, 2016
Dear Parents,
We hope you had a safe and relaxed long weekend. Also I would like to thank all of you for your support on our last field trip of this school year. The children had a very good time and enjoyed sharing time with their families and friends.
On June 3rd we will have the Walk-a-Thon, please consider making a pledge and helping our school. Also please send the children with active wear. Last year we were asking parents to get a donation for every lap your child walked around our school. You can still do that but send in the donations you acquired from family members and friends all together in an envelope labeled with your child’s name and contributions.
The 3 and 4 year olds will be experiencing a bubble making display with Ian’s Dad Mr. Ken Clifton. We will have this activity in the Parish garden area around 9 a.m. on Friday. Then the children will proceed to the Walk-a-thon. Thank you Mr. Clifton for making this day extra special for our little ones!
This week we will continue practicing for our End of the Year Program “Adios Amigos”. Friendly reminder about the food donations needed for our Taco Bar luncheon on Thursday June 16th after our weekly Mass. We will have a show and then chow down on some tacos! What a great time!!!! PARENTS, YOU MAY TAKE YOUR CHILD HOME WHEN THE SHOW ENDS IF YOU LIKE. WE SHOULD BE DONE BY 11:30 A.M. This is optional!
The following day is our last 1/2 day on the 17th with Noon Dismissal.
RAINBOW TUTUS ARE HERE! Just a note or request to please send in 6.00 for the tutu your child will wear for the “ADIOS AMIGOS” show on June 16th. Mrs. Farias went into a panic mode when she was notified by Oriental Trading that the tutus were out of stock! YIKES! She went online and found another company that sold them but for 6.00 instead of 5.00. So sorry about the price hike to 6.00 but they are really cute and we have them now! No shipping cost was even applied and they are here already!! We were thinking of keeping them here at school until that day to prevent mishaps. If you prefer to take them home until the day of the show, just let us know.
Boys hats should be arriving today as well! Those will be for original price of 5.00.
Reminders:
• Thursday All school Mass 9 am
• Walk-a-Thon will be held on Friday June 3rd.
• Program for the End of the Year will be on Thursday June 16th after Mass around 10:15 a.m.
Curriculum News:
Oral Language/Science. Let’s Find Out/Mi Weekly Reader! Pop the Bubbles – Explota las burbujas. This lesson will help children read sight words and with the acquisition of fluency. Kids can learn a whole lot of science while making their won bubble-blowing solution! Also we will have Ian’s dad to visit our class and show us giant bubbles. The children will have fun at the same time they learn how the solution was made.
Math. Review of numbers, tracing and matching with the same number of manipulatives.
Religion. We Love God and Each Other. This lesson will discuss ways people show love for one another. The children will be encouraged to express one way someone shows love to them and one way they can show love to someone else.
Estrellita Phonics: Review all letter sounds to begin the lesson. The letters N, n, V,v, and is our focus for this week again due to the different letter sounds it makes when paired with different vowels (nido, vaca). Children will learn new words that begin with these consonant sounds. Children will be tracing and writing the letter forms and learning songs related to the letter sounds.
Have a wonderful week,
Blessings,
Sra. Raquel L., Sra. Farías and Sra. Laura P.
