~Westmoor Update~
Week of September 19th
Principal's Message
Dear Westmoor Families,
We are working together and facing the challenges that school administrators, teachers, and families face in trying to improve school attendance. Though the individual student is at the center of our concern for truancies, an effective response must involve the school, the family, and the community. Strategies that focus on the individual student include multi-levels of intervention, including the school wellness team to encourage the use of mental wellness services for either the student or a family member of the student. We must work to engage the student by creating a school environment that is welcoming and by addressing academic difficulties that may deter the student from attending school. I believe at the core of our discussions of student attendance, if students feel safe, connected, and supported, they will walk through our school every morning. We have also included a new Attendance Task force this year to help us monitor student attendance.
This year, the District is offering the PSAT/NMSQT on Saturday, October 15, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 12:45 PM at no cost to families. The location is still yet to be determined, but it will be in one of the schools within the District. Space is limited and 11th grade students get first priority followed by 10th grade students. If you are interested in taking the PSAT, please click here to sign up. The deadline to register is Wednesday, September 21 at 3:30 PM.
