CHS Weekly Update
Week 6: 10-6-19
Fall is Here (Even if it's been official for awhile now...)
Well, Hacking High School Night was a spectacular display of awesome ideas that you put together and not very well attended. We will try this again next year, so save those presentations. I'm looking for ways that we can let more people know about what we are offering at this event because those who came expressed a ton of gratitude and positive comments. Special thanks to Beth and Crystal for all of the hard work that went into organizing this event and making it so well-run!
Other Things on My Mind...
- Thursday's staff meeting brought great discussion about how we can track our students' progress toward improvement in the focus areas of our advisory. Remember, while exposure to these concepts, skills, and ideas is important, it is even more important that we have feedback from students about how they are progressing with these concepts, skills, and ideas. It is only then that we can make changes in our approach.
- All meetings with evaluators regarding your self-eval, goal(s), and focus area for the year should be scheduled and completed by Friday (10-11) with your evaluator.
- PSAT/SAT results are coming soon. The initial results for SAT EBRW show that 52% of our students are at the benchmark and another 15% of students are within 3 questions of achieving the benchmark. My goal is to have reports out this week (or as soon as we get the math part done). This year will be the slowest year for getting reports back because it is a new process. Thank you for being patient and helping out with the math part. :)
- Please make sure to turn in emergency forms for students to Beth Wilson in the office. On Friday, I'm going to ask for the checklist roster I gave you with the forms. Please make sure you mark off who has turned those in on the checklist roster so we can follow up.
- If you haven't completed the blended learning survey sent by Danielle Zachary yet, please do. It can be found here: https://forms.gle/U38wUABWp8GQyv596
- Looking ahead, we have been chosen for the US Department of Education longitudinal study. This just means that some of our students will need to complete a survey and that it takes place on 10/23. I have not heard from them since last year, but as soon as I do, I will share information with you.
- Please remember we are in the count period. Taking accurate attendance is important always, but doubly so during count. If you happen to be out on one of these days, please make sure to double-check with Karen when you return to see if there is anything she needs attendance-wise from you.
- Have a great week!
BAT Team - 1st Meeting
Admin Out
Matt is at the Student Mental Health Summit and my husband is having surgery (he's fine - just hoping to breathe better - yes, I know that's important Science peeps). One sub to help out Dan would be appreciated.
Homecoming Dance
Chaperones needed. See Pehote's email. Don't make Mike desperate. It sounds like there's Pepsi at Joe's for helping out with this easy gig.
