The Founding Fathers
George Washington
President at 1787-1797
George Washington was the first president of the United States. He led the colonial forces during the Revolutionary War. He was commander in chief of the Contental Army, and was one of our founding fathers. Most people don't think of Washington as a great political thinker because he did not leave a great body of political tracts. He also had many good ideas of what kind of goverment the United States should have.
George Washington Quote
"Goverment is not reason, it is not eloquence, it is a force! Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master; never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible actions."
