100th Day of School
Tomorrow is the big day and Mrs. Shuman is letting the whole school dress as if we are 100 years old. I have lots of fun activities planned and hope to take lots of great pics!
Germs! Germs! Germs! and GLITTER...
Despite my best efforts to keep our class disinfected, it is still the time of year when illness runs rampant! I did a germ demonstration last week with glitter. I put hand sanitizer on my hands and sprinkled them with glitter. By the end of the day, we checked to see where the glitter could be found. Everyone had at least one sparkle on them without touching me. I have talked until I am blue in the face and still keep catching kiddos sharing lipgloss and chapstick!!! This is also the age of loose teeth that kiddos cannot leave alone. I am constantly telling kids to keep their hands out of their mouth and when I catch them with fingers in their mouth to wash their hands. PLEASE talk to your children about the importance of NOT sharing chapstick, lip gloss, cough drops, hats, or headphones. They are starting to look at me like I am crazy but we have had at least 2 kiddos gone every day from illness. Thank you.
Biographies
We have been working really hard on famous people reports and creating timelines the last couple weeks. We kicked it off by learning all about Martin Luther King Jr. and now we have moved on to other famous people such as Rosa Parks, Susan B. Anthony, Ruby Bridges, famous presidents and inventors! Ask your kiddo who they are writing about and the iPad stories they are creating.
