A Message From Ms. Hill
Leaders,
On Friday, the AFs and I conducted curriculum walks looking for evidence of the TEKS professional development that we studied back in January. While we certainly have pocket of excellence in our schools, our walks indicate a need for increased curriculum alignment. All administrators should spend the bulk of their time in classrooms giving feedback and in PLCs ensuring that teachers are planning well. Overall and campus specific feedback was emailed to you as appropriate. Please internalize and reflect on the feedback as a way to improve outcomes for our students.
The time has come for us to stop and assess our students! As we enter common assessment 5, please be sure that students have optimal testing environments that are conducive to student success. Make any necessary schedule changes so that students can test uninterrupted and remain focused. Upload common assessment results on a daily basis so that our AFs can pull the data timely for me.
Last week, the Academic Facilitators sent you a link to record your data meeting date and time. Please provide this information as soon as possible so that we can create our schedules to attend.
LEADERSHIP MATTERS STATEMENT:
- Remember that EVERY INSTRUCTIONAL MOMENT MATTERS.
- Spend the bulk of your time IN THE CLASSROOM.
- Give teachers FEEDBACK to improve the QUALITY of INSTRUCTION.
- Monitor ALL of your PLCs to ensure fidelity to the process.
Here's to a great week of teaching and learning!

Call for Writers | APPLY NOW!
The guiding principle for the new curriculum is, as much as possible, it should be "created by teachers, for teachers." To that end, the application to be a curriculum writer is now open!
- Applicant pool: teachers and campus instructional coaches only
- Application link (must be logged into Dallas ISD google account): www.tiny.cc/curriculumwriter1
- Application deadline: Friday, February 16, 2018
- Interview time frame: Wednesday, February 21 - Friday, February 23
Principals will receive an email for each applicant from their school. This will be a super easy reference where you only need to reply if you do not think that applicant should be considered.
Please share this application and encourage your teachers and coaches to apply!
Campus Incident Reports
An “Incident” is any Injury, exposure, act of violence, safety concern or situation involving students, parents, visitors, or volunteers, or any loss, damage, theft, vandalism, safety concern or situation involving Dallas ISD schools, facilities, equipment, and events. An incident is NOT an employee injury.
Please continue to notify me via call or text prior to submitting the actual report. When this is done, I can assess the situation and help you with next steps that should be taken. The email notification should not be the first point of notification for an Incident taking place on your campus.
For more information on reporting campus incidents, please call the Risk Management Services Department at 972-925-4050 or refer to the department webpage at https://www.dallasisd.org/Page/26559.
