Board Meeting Summary

Glen Ellyn School District 41

March 20, 2023 Regular Board Meeting

The Board of Education provides a "Board Meeting Summary" after each Board meeting. The summary includes a brief description of the main topics and action items. These summaries are not meant to replace minutes. The minutes for each meeting are approved and posted after the next regularly scheduled meeting. We hope these summaries provide some basic information and context around the reports, presentations and action items. Celebrations

Glen Ellyn Art

Superintendent Dr. Melissa Kaczkowski shared information about large artistic letters spelling Glen Ellyn that were displayed in front of the Board table during the meeting. The College of DuPage Public Art Committee and the Glen Ellyn Public Art Committee recently unveiled this traveling installation of hand-painted letters featuring iconic Glen Ellyn locations. The letters were painted by Mexican artist and muralist Juan Chawuk, who previously worked on a similar project for the Frida Kahlo Timeless exhibition. They will be in District 41 through April.

#WeAreD41 Celebration | watch

Dr. Kaczkowski introduced a new video series “#WeAreD41.” The videos in the series will feature people in District 41 and their backgrounds. "Eller's Story" was presented as the first video in the new series. Eller Schafer is a District 41 preschool student who has inspired many. The communication department will continue producing these stories and they will feature them first at Board meetings and then share them out with the broader community.
