NJHS Trunk or Treat 2022

NJHS students serving the community of Rowlett at the Trunk or Treat Event! We are so proud of our students taking time to support our city!

Our Campus Goal is 96.5% or higher each week!

#DestinationA - The staff at Coyle truly believes in our students and their ability to reach an A-rating this school year! We tag all of our social media posts with #DestinationA as an encouragement and motivation for all of us….admin, teachers, staff, students, and families! Yes, families, too! Your partnership and positive engagement is just as important to the success of our school community as our admin, teachers, staff, and students.

Attendance Averages for 10/24-10/28:

  • Coyle MS (8th grade) - 93.94%
  • Coyle MS (7th grade) - 93.02%
  • Coyle Tech (6th grade) - 92.84%

Ensure your student is present at school everyday! Our campus attendance goal is 96% or higher each week. During the first grading cycle, we average 94.1%. Not only did we lose valuable state funding for those students who were not in attendance, but we are below our minimum required to reach the top 25% of our campus comparison group. If we fail to reach the top 25%, we lose points towards getting our desired A-Rating.

Students who do not meet the compulsory attendance requirements will be subjected to a home visit by campus admin or district personnel, or withdrawal from school. You may view the Compulsory Attendance Requirements.

DRESS CODE

Ensure that your student is following all district and campus expectations (student code of conduct, dress code, technology policy, positive behavior expectations). When students cooperate with district and campus expectations, admin, teachers, and staff have more time to focus on providing students with an exceptional education instead of spending valuable time correcting misbehaviors. Every minute students spend in their academic environment increases their opportunities for success! You can review campus and district expectations by clicking the links below:

Cougar Spirit Gear

This campaign will function as a fundraiser from October 17th – November 1st. For every item sold Boys athletics will receive a percentage of the sale. You get to support your Cougar sports teams with spirit wear and help bolster our athletics fund. We will use these funds to purchase equipment and apparel. In addition, students are eligible to earn a free incentive based on the total number of items sold. There will be a section that asks who is selling the item once customers checkout. We look forward to your support and seeing you in Cougar gear.

Courageous Conversations About Coyle’s Data

Principal Barnett and our campus leadership team is in the beginning stages of preparing a new Parent Family Engagement series of discussions titled “Courageous Conversations About Coyle’s Data”. During these interactive discussion sessions, we will examine problems of practice with respect to our diverse student group’s academic, social, and behavioral data in order to address the relationship between race and achievement. Principal Barnett is acutely aware of the statistical gaps in achievement in our diverse student population, and realizes that eliminating this disparity is critical to developing cultural proficiency and students success for ALL of Coyle students! Courageous conversations about data helps our campus leaders and families understand why performance inequity persists and how to develop action plans that guide policy analysis and instructional reform that promotes true academic parity to “eliminate our achievement gaps!” More Information to Come!!
