Oil Boom in El Dorado
Oil booms started boom towns where the massive money that was being made from oil fueled a whole new community. Towns would shoot from 100 to 20,000 in just under a year. El Dorado housed 59 oil companies. But the boom died at the start of the thirties.
Flood of 1927
For fifty miles along the Mississippi some AR counties were 30 feet deep in the flood water. Thousands were without shelter and food and supplies of any kind for weeks.
The New Deal
President Roosevelt was elected and instated the "new deal" a plan to create new agencies to tackle the many aspects of the great depression. Including the
- Federal Emergency Relief Administration
- Civilian Conservation Corps
- Works Progress Administration
