Barrington Middle School Library Media Center

It's Great to be Back!

We are happy to get back into the swing of things here at the BMS library media center. Every cluster has come through for an orientation lesson. Students are coming before, during, and after school to use the space for checking out books, reading, studying, and collaborating with peers. I am starting to book clusters for readers' advisory and research lessons.

#BMSReads

#BMSReads is a school-wide initiative where everyone reads for pleasure. Students are expected to have a book to read at the ready and will periodically share out what they have been reading with others. Below you will find the formats and genres that "count" as reading.

We read what we enjoy. We read to relax. We read to learn. We read to become better versions of ourselves.

We also stretch ourselves out of our comfort zones to create a balanced reading diet. We can do that by engaging in a reading challenge such as this one.

Weekly Book Recommendations

Books, Books, Books!

Blog Form: During the school year I do a weekly blog post highlighting six recommendations for the varying ages and stages of middle school students. If there is a book trailer, I include it. I also indicate where you can secure a copy of the title. You can find the blog here.

Virtual Bookshelf Form: Once the pandemic hit, I began creating virtual bookshelves to showcase the weekly book recommendations. You can find it here.
