Many Hands, One Mason!!
January 12th, 2020
Dear Mason Families,
Happy Sunday! Thank you for another great week of leading and learning. OUR PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention Support) Team combined with our Leader In Me Team did a wonderful job this week of setting us stations that learners and their teachers rotated through around the building for learners to review common classroom, school and community expectations! Special Thanks to the entire PBIS/LIM Team for organizing such a power experience for our learners!
Last weekend, I attended the funeral for Mr. Stephen Hadala and there were several messages that could really help us continue to be great a community of learners. These are skills that our wonderful staff are continuing to teach our learners on a daily basis at Mason. We appreciate your support in continuing the conversation at home and modeling these life skills.
The power of positivity- You can't control what happens to you but you can definitely control your response. Being Positive is harder than one may think and it requires constant practice. Setting aside intentional time to express gratitude allows us to foster a sense of promoting the good we see in others!
The power of the small things- Never under estimate the power of a smile, making eye contact with someone, saying hello and simply saying I am sorry. Everyone has a story and the small things can make the biggest impact on our journey through life. The small things add up and they are a reflection of our character!
The power in lifting up others- We must be bucket fillers and not bucket dippers. At Mason we often say our Hands, Feet and Voices are not meant for hurting people, they are meant for helping people. Our words, actions, beliefs and thoughts have power and they should always be lifting people up and not tearing them down!
For us to remain a strong community of learners we must remain focused on the positive as negativity is all around us and it can overwhelm us if we let it. We must recognize the little things that we take for granted (they matter too) and model for our learners what it means to lift each other up. Be the change...
Feel free to join me this week in taking 10 minutes a day for the next 7 days to focus on the positive, celebrate what is going right in our community and be the change we want to see in the world!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Roy

News from our Fabulous Green Team led by Mrs. Frakes:
Towel and Blanket Drive
Tuesday, January 21- Tuesday, January 28 Towel and Blanket Drive for Animals
On January 28th, Mason will be visited by a representative from The Paws with a Cause Foundation. This is a program that helps train animals to work as service animals for people who need them. The Mason Green Team and Leadership Council are encouraging you to give back to those furry friends that serve us so well by donating your old, clean towels and blankets. These blankets are needed by both The Paws with a Cause Foundation and by the Moore Veterinarian Hospital. Our Mason Green Team is hoping you'll see the value of reusing items you may have considered throwing away. You can drop off your donation(s) to Mason School in the main hallway near the office anytime between Tuesday, January 21st and Tuesday, January 28th. Other items these valued animals are in need of are clean paper towel rolls and Clorox Wipes. Thanks in advance for your help making a positive difference!

Parents For Unity In Diversity
Dear GP Community! Our Parents For Unity In Diversity Committee is happy to announce that the district-wide parent meetings for this year will take place on Jan. 28th (in the Mason Elementary Library) and April 13th (in the Defer Elementary Library) from 6-7:30 pm. The meetings will be facilitated by Ginni Winters and the topic of our conversations will be centered around how we can help our community heal and become better during this time of transition for all our students. We are asking all participants to come prepared to brainstorm ways we can make our community better for everyone involved. Please consider joining us for these rich conversations; our students and community deserve it!
Thanks for your time,
